I thought everyone could do that?

I'm not even being sarcastic here. You can't look at a game and tell if it's enjoyable or not?

No, I cannot, and I seriously doubt the credibility of anyone that claims to be able to accurately critique or judge a game based on watching a video of the game, and nothing more.

I could give you a list as long as my arm of games that either exceeded or failed to meet my expectations based on trailers I'd seen leading up to the games. Just a couple fo examples would be Halo: Reach far exceeding my expectations, and Crysis 2 boring me to death when I thought it looked pretty good before I played it.

Trailers don't count of course. I'm referring to watching uninterrupted gameplay, like the live stream they did for Ryse.

Even then I like to try things myself. I'm a big Twitch.tv guy, and I watch all sorts of different games being played. The ones that look fun I try for myself, and sometimes they end up playing as well as they appear to on stream, other times they don't.

I also don't put 100% faith in reviews because entertainment is largely subjective. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I just prefer to actually experience things before I judge them. I find it absurd to allow someone else to tell me how I am going to feel about something. I find it even more absurd to pass those opinions on as if they are my own. It's seems quite ridiculous to me when I see people on this forum spouting off about which games suck based on the opinion of other people that they have never even met.

Again, maybe I'm the strange one, and everyone that lets others tell them how they should feel are the normal ones.

Combat seems decent. But is there any variation to it in later levels? Will we get to use different combos? Different weapons? Fight different enemies with different abilities etc.? They haven't spoken about this at all and that makes me worried.

Concerns about this game are legit I don't see how anyone can deny this.

Game looks great though and i enjoyed the stream! I posted it first btw

I think some games can be judged purely from watching live gameplay others not so much.

For example if a game only relies on one mechanic or one type of gameplay then watching 30 minutes of gameplay is enough. If there's multiple things to do in game and you've only watched one aspect of it then its impossible to have an informed opinion about it.

The combat looks less complicated than a DMC or GoW, but it looks really pretty. It's hard to assess the depth of the mechanics until we get our hands in it.

You can intelligently judge gameplay experience from internet videos that you watch before a game is even released?

Daaaaamn, you got some mad skills, bro. You actually don't even need to spend any money purchasing video games anymore. You can actually experience them just from watching videos of them for free on the net. I'm so jealous.

Wow. You're terribly clever. I'd suggest patting yourself on the back, but I wouldn't want you to hurt yourself.

And yes, most people, upon watching videos that show enough of the actual gameplay, are usually able to intelligently judge for themselves whether or not they might like it. If you do not have this ability, well that's unfortunate. I'm not going to run out and buy a $500 console and a $70 game, just to confirm my suspicions (And what the Giant Bomb guys have already said) that the game is a QTE-fest that I wouldn't enjoy whatsoever.

Have a nice day.

Got my XBOne preordered with my free Fifa and Dead Rising 3. This stream did nothing to make me consider adding Ryse to my launch list.

Looks amazing, best combat ever in a hack and slash game. I just hope there is some kind of difficulty setting.

...Devil May Cry 3 called...it wants to teach you what a hack and slash game is supposed to be like.

This is more of a hack and QTE game.

They aren't even attempting to make a game like DMC3.

Its clearly inspired by Assassins Creed.

Man idk how anyone could think that combat is boring. To me it looks realistic and brutal. Disappointed you can't lob someones head off.

It's an Xbox One game. This is VGChartz.

Seriously though, not many people have played it yet. They should at least wait till reviews before judging it too harshly, even then, reviews don't mean everything.

There is an early preview out right now.

And I've played it. Shit is fucking boring. Waste of Crytek's time, should have left it as a KInect game.

Preview =/= Review.

When did you get to play it?!? Why wouldn't it be a waste of time if they left it a Kinect game?

Funny how he didn't answer about when he got to play it.
