Well I enjoyed doing the tourneys. They were simpler and gave you more freedom; and we had seven of us going at once so it wasn't all bad.
Just need to be too precise; and I don't trust people to do that. Will leave it up to everyone to choose between anyway.

So you ignored the fact that past tournaments using this mode were not successful and the many reasons I gave as to why the friends room is better, all because tourney mode gives you a few more options... lol K!

Well, as I said I'll leave it up to everyone else to decide. We used one of each and I enjoyed both, the tourneys were annoying because theey split people into multiple groups, but the friend rooms requires everyone to be friends and also gives too few options.
If you could decide when to go or to have only the one tourney on at once, it'd be perfectly fine. But, as it is both options have pros and cons right now. Even if the cons of the tourney outweighs the others IMO.
It's up to others to decide at any rate.

The friend room option actually only requires you to be friends with the host. If we have two 2 hosts/tourney then it wouldn't be so complicated, if those hosts are consistent. There could also be a reserve host just in case.

I was just wondering but why did you need to make separate tourneys (aside from finals). Doesn't Mario Kart 8 work that if you fill up one room, another room is made for the leftover players?

You'd think so but no. Indeed, in one group you can have multiple tourneys, but due to the sheer speed of the autostart you've like 30 seconds to join before you start and new people join another group.
It's a real shame as the tourneys are perfect besides that.
