You don't like chibi models?

It's not that I dislike them, I just find it annoying how a lot of Japanese devs  for 3DS games purposely use Chibi models...
I think it's unnecessary and the 3DS can work fine even without them

They have done bits of free DLC, like the first map of FE: Awakening DLC, or a few of the Pikmin 3 maps. It's like a demo for DLC I guess.

If the Splatoon DLC you're referring to is the additional clothing and stuff that was mentioned, I think it will be free. They have already mentioned Splat Zones being unlocked after launch -- it's basically free DLC. There will probably be a few more modes like that, and since the precedent is set for them to be free, there's a decent chance they could be. Tough call. Adding new clothes reminds me of the way SpotPass is used in a lot of 3DS games. Animal Crossing: New Leaf, made by the same EAD studio as Splatoon, used SpotPass to deliver new items to the player for free.

There's also event Pokemon, and weapon gems in Kid Icarus: Uprising, and Fire Emblem: Awakening had a LOT of content distributed via SpotPass.
