"I am one of the reviewers being affected by this
i will not give out my name or which review site i work for, because i don't want to risk getting found out
Essentially, what the problem is, is that the big devs for next gen consoles are adopting a new policy (and by "big devs" i mean almost every dev for the new consoles at launch)
Essentially, the policy does two things. First, if we want to make a review, we have to send it to the company of the game being reviewed and get the review accepted before we can publish it without it being taken down. Secondly, it makes it so that we have to sign terms with companies before reviewing their games.
The reason this is only affecting SOME of us, is because we are assigned games each, and some of us have to go out and sign these policies with the publishers before we can do a review. The problem here, is that some publishers (Such as EA and Ubisoft) are making us play their games in their studios, under their supervision, and on their consoles. One dev required that I had to go to the studio and watch one of the developers play the game while i watched and took notes which would then be published as a review (that would have to be accepted by the dev first.)
The reason Sessler is upset, is because he doesn't think this is Morally acceptable. He wants to review games how he likes, but since developers are making us do silly thiungs like watch them play, he's upset and doesn't wanna be a part of this big "scandal" (as Sessler told me) that they are putting on, which would essentially turn "Reviews" into "Advertisements".
you could say he's overreacting and being childish, but as someone who has worked with him before, i can really understand why he's so angry. I'm angry too, you know."

from gaf, holy shit if this is true, you cant thrust some reviewers now imagine if this is true :S

EDIT: Ignore this post.

I think you filled the OP with enough speculation.

We really have no idea what it's about. Also it's very flawed of you to rule out Microsoft just because of Albert's comment.

Yes, attack the poster.  Winning strategy JTB.  There is more afoot here then just much ado about nothing.

You took that as an attack? I'm sorry you feel that way.

It's already pretty clear what the problem is, talked about it here:

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=170889&page=1#

They are not being sent PS4's/Review copies in advance and are being expected to attend a review event. Some of them (including Sess) is pretty angry about it.

MS and Sony are about to launch their consoles, with lots of Dollars spent and some entitled Journo's are upset because they haven't got their free consoles and games yet. Marcus has already moaned that he hasn't played on/seen a retail box. Others have but because they haven't they are pissy about it.

To be honest I am getting sick and tired of their childish twitter - won't say but will allude to it crap. Don't want to go to the review event, fine don't go, wait till the consoles come out, buy it with all the money you make from your job and then do your own reviews. Not really a problem. It's not like Sony/MS will be doing this for long once the consoles are out.

Also its quite clear the problem is that *some* sites have equipment and have the games (as were expecting a PS4 AC videos/reviews next week), it seems Sony isn't mass sending out equipment at this point, and some smaller sites/reviewers are not happy about that because they are not on the list (would guess Sess and Marcus are two of them).

Not sure about what MS are doing, but they are waiting for at least another week by the sounds of things.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

Analists have been saying that the supplay chain indicates that Microsoft is ahead with production and delivering... hun too bad for CBOAT yelding issues and buggy OS.

And how would that affect reviewers? You don't think they have at least a few hundred they can give to them?

so the journalists are upset cause they dont get free consoles ? LOL

It's what it sounds like. I don't blame them for being upset about having to review a game in a group environment in a short amount of time, but the game journalists could get integrity and wait till the console comes out to review it like everyone else will. Review events aren't a new phenomenon, especially to a veteran like Sessler. I too am tired of their childish, "Ooh I'm so hurt by this, but I can't say what's going on" tweets. Either go to the event and don't complain or don't go to the event and review the PS4 when you get it. And for the love of God, don't tweet about something you can't talk about.

It'd be easier to get where they're coming from if they confirmed what the issue was. Maybe this isn't even what the issue is.

Read the article:

It´s just a conjecure. We just have to wait.

Oh great and what does this have to do with the thread? (Completely ignoring that analists have been saying a whole lot of things these pasts months)

OT: If this whole "reviews have to send their reviews to publishers to get approval" bullshit is true, then that is truly disgusting. Until we get some confirmation on this I will take all of this as nothing but twitter drama for the attention though.

That article is nothing but FUD. Yeah something's up, but that's not even close to being it. PS4 launch is not being rushed. Trust me.

Unless you work in a high position inside Sony´s corporate I can´t trust you or anyone if the lauch is being rushed or not.

The good will wave that Sony´s been riding is just a hype train, based most on Microsoft miss manage of the internet gamers ethos.

What got in my nerves is that people "just believe" that everething is perfect with Sony and every single bad news must be "a desperate move from xbox fans". They "just belive" PS4 is so superior even when they haven´t seen any footage from any console (we now have the not so grate IGN feed, for COD).

Sorry, I don´t buy it.
