It's at least an ethnicity, and it will likely be listed as a race option in the 2020 US Census.

The most important piece is this - if you're trying to convince somebody who is worried about the white population shrinking that it's not shrinking because you're including hispanics, that's not going to change their mind.

The only pertinent fact is that the 'white' race is not shrinking. It has merely proceeded to hegemonize the entire planet. The whole world runs on 'white' principles, dogmas, rationalizations, and has indeed colonised the whole human civilization. The 'fear' that whites will one day become a minority is itself a grand paradox. People need to read Tocqueville more, but 'white' people are seemingly divorced from their own philosophy and have come to disown it.
