TBH if you are not much of a Sony gamer I dont understand why you would want a PS4.

IMHO (so no offence) The biggest selling point of Sony hardware is third party exclusives (every person I know that has a PS3 thinks the same) - just look at the sales of games like Uncharted3 (6.05m) and The Last of US (3.31m) the only somewhat successful first party franchise is GranTurismo with GT5 hitting (10.58m)

Most Sony people buy the system because it either reads SONY (you clearly dont belong to them) has a Bluray player (so there is no need for a seperate device) or because of third party exclusives.

There is like no reason for you to buy a PS4 right now. Dont fall for the OH NEW AND SHINY MUST OWN trap. Dont forget Online costs money on PS4!

I would upgrade the PC and buy a PS4 in 2-3 years  when there is some games worth buying. If you buy a new GPU and you are lucky you can sell your crossfire GPUs for 100+ bucks and then you already have a quarter of the money you need for a PS4 or even more in case the system gets a price drop within 2 years. Or you invest that money for a preowned $100-150 PS3 to play NiNoKuni and The Last of US. (Nintendo gamers often like Ratchet and Clank too)

BTW what are your system specs? CPU? RAM? If you buy a $400 GPU and your CPU is a 2009 quadcore or so you will be in trouble playing games next year.

Now you do know that Uncharted, The Last of Us, God of War, etc. are all first party games, right?

@OP. To tell the truth I feel like you should just get a PS3 this year. If you search a bit you can find a brand new 12 GB version for 150 and you probably won't need more HDD space for your needs. Just get this version, play all the jRPGs that you've missed this gen, try out other Sony first party exclusives like The Last of Us, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, LBP, Resistance, etc. This should keep you busy for a year and next year you'll be able to either get a PS4 (if you find that you actually like Sony games) or get an even better GPU for a better price. Low risk, low cost and total win.

Oh, and buy a Vita ;) It has Persona 4 Golden!! :P

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Underlined and bold dont talk about the same thing.
I was saying that third parties are the reason to buy Sony  and then I used the "low" sales numbers of first party titles I even mentioned the term first parties in the same sentence in which  Uncharted TLoU and GT are mentioned.

PS4, upgrade your card in a couple of years.

Currently I do most of my gaming on my PC (94 steam games), followed by my Wii U and then 3DS.  I've never been much of a Sony gamer (I've beaten the important Final Fantasy's on PS1, San Andreas and FF X on PS2, and Eternal Sonata on PS3).
I only have enough money this holiday season to get one or the other and my graphics cards are getting a bit long in the tooth (i'm curently rocking two 5750's).  In certain games on max settings (Crysis 2, Metro 2033, The Witcher 2) I'm getting some frame rate drops where  I have to lower  the settings to high.  I'm thinking of getting a $300-500 dollar Nvidia card like the 770 or something along those lines.  My other option is to pick up a PS4.  The games I'm most looking forward too are The Division and Destiny and if I were to pick up a PS4  it would be mostly to play with local friends (they can't afford a good gaming rig).  One of my favorite genres is JRPG and as a PC and nintendo gamer that sometimes can be lacking, so that's another driving force as to why I may want to get a PS4.

So I ask the community what would be the better investment for me and maybe a little reason as to why I should pick one or the other.

If you want Killzone and InFamous (Now), get a PS4.  Otherwise I would wait on both.  Personally I am planning on waiting 2-4 years until console games start slowing down again like they did in late 2011.  Then I just upgrade my PC when the PS5 is 1-2 years away so I can get into next gen early once again! ;)

Ah, ok. The post is written in a very, very unclear and illogical way though. And could you tell me exactly what those third party PS3 exclusives are then? Cause I really don't know what games you're talking about. The only 3rd party exclusives I see in the top 100 best selling PS3 games are Metal Gear Solid 4 (5.8 mil - 14th game) and Demon's Souls (88th game - 1.7 mil), so pretending that Naughty Dog's games sitting at 6 mil among the best selling games on the platform (U2 and U3 being 12th and 13th best selling games) aren't a reason to buy the platform is just incorrect.

I'd say buy a ps3. But then if you buy a ps4 you can play ps3 on that somewhere in 2014

I'd say get the PS4 for features, exclusives, and the dedicated time frame of software. If you go with a graphics card I'd wait until the newer models start rolling out because anything you get now, while powerful, probably will be missing features important to the next gen line of development. At least that's my understanding.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Wait on PS4 if you're not looking to get any games for awhile.

Wait on the card if you're buying it to keep up with the next gen games because chances are, the one you get will only max out games releasing in the next 6-10 months. My calculation on that timeframe is probably generous as well. The GTX 770 is about $439.99 on Amazon right now and just barely scrapes by in Ultra benchmarking for BF4 at 1080P settings. Wait six months or so, and you can get an even better card for the same price.

What's the rest of your set up (CPU, ram, mobo)?

I am the Playstation Avenger.

buy a ps4 and use its card to upgrade your pc

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.
