I seriously doubt it. The hype level for the Xbone/Ps4 is 100x that of the Wii U before it launched. Plus besides exclusives the third party audience is usually home for Xbox and Playstation.

No, the hype is not greater. But there are more Sony and Micrsofot fans to buy the console the first months.

No, the hype is definitely a lot greater. The Wii was a success because Nintendo bet on a gimmick, and won it big. The Wii-U doesn't have that going for it. Nintendo thought they could mosey on into Sony and M$'s game and honestly think they could take it. That sure worked out well for them. Problem is, the actual core gamers out there (and there are alot of them) are going for the nextgen hardware because it offers the next gen software they want. The casuals who made up the majority of Wii purchasers, will be happy with their Wii or even PC. The industry is focused on next gen. Wii-U is just kindof there at this point. Hopefully they get some good software in the future. X does look good, but it needs alot more.

Weren't you in boot camp during the Wii U launch?

I think they will both struggle. Almost all of their content is available on PS360. Why would anyone buy the new, more expensive system?

I would assume, Yes but will quickly recover like the 3DS did.

Yes but certainly not to the same extent as Wii U, more likely they will sell similar to 360 and PS3 first full years. 360 did just under 7m in 2006 and PS3 did just under 8m in 2007. There are a few reason why I see this happening.

PS4 vs PS3 Pros/Cons
Cheaper than PS3/doesnt have a new format
Better line up/shares most games with up to 5 platforms
Better online/costs $50 per year

One vs 360 Pros/Cons
Xbox brand has grown/more competition (360 only had to face PS2, One has PS3/360/PS4/WiiU)
Better lineup/shares most games with up to 5 platforms
Kinect is impressive/makes it most expensive console

Overall I see One selling about 6-7m and PS4 about 8-10m in 2014. Based off how much PS360 have declined in the past 2 years, id say 360 will sell 5-6m and PS3 will sell 7-8m next year so next gen consoles will sell slightly better than predecessors, mostly due to as stronger holiday 2014.

No, Sony and MS have third party support so there droughts are always short.

No, they might not do amazing numbers but they won't go near WiiU numbers. MS and Sony have a solid base to target the console too with software coming.

Stand by this :)

No sales will not slow down, they will increase because there will be more games, more features via software updates, and price drop likely sometime next year too.

No, why would it?? 2014 is stacked and they both have all major third party support./
