Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Does the Gamepad make a big difference in TW101 and Wind Waker HD?

Nintendo should put the pro controller in a bundle and sell it for either $199.99 or $249.99 and sell the gamepad separately for $99.99. Let people have choice. I think the Wii-U would really take off at that point.

^ Console was designed around the GamePad being the center piece for better or worse.

And they wont sell it at 199.99$ regardless.

why do people not get that when you do stuff like that, that the periphial fails.

Just look at the One and PS4.  I can guarantee that Kinect will destroy the PS Eye in terms of being utilized or number of people actually using it.  Why becuase EVERYONE has it, for the One, while its optional for PS4

Look at Wii and PS3.  How succesful was the move?  How about the wiimote.  If you poll 1,000 random people who are not core gamers, I doubt you would find very many that knew of the move, wheras a lot will know what the wii mote is.

Any serious fps's player would buy the camera on the PS4 for the gyro integration( good thing they put it in the Killzone bundle I think)

Wind Waker HD uses the gamepad very well for gyroscope as well as touch and drag items, and very useful map and wind waker interaction. Its way better than Zombi U, if you played that.

ZombiU cant be matched when it comes to the amount of tension it causes to actually rummage through your back pack not knowing where a zombie is coming

Zombie U uses the gamepad brilliantly.  It's a survival horror, and the gamepad adds tension to an already tension filled game.

It does what its supposed to.

Not fair to compare uses.  Wind Waker has more gamepad features and uses, but doesn't mean they are better.  Adding those things to Zombie U wouldn't have made that game any better.

That's what was bad about many Wii games.  Too many developers thought if they just changed one button to a waggle instead that they were utilizing it good.  If the wiimote gyro's can enhance your game use it, if it can't then don't tack it on.  Same with gamepad.

Battery sucks. In WW, besides off screen play the only thing you can do is change your inventory.

I make videos that are sometimes funny I think?

Well there you have it folks. The wii u gamepad is pretty worthless for trying to change gameplay in a significant way. Not even the nintendo owned games take advantage of it in a meaningful way.

The gamepad is the most amazing thing that has been introduced to the console market in a long time. I don't care if it's inovative, but the off screen play is more than enough for me.

That's for the mass market to determine and not some forum dwellers around here.

Apply that to your own posts and be wary of sweeping negative generalizations

True but at the same time most forum dwellers don't understand the mass market so that generalization is fair for the most part.

Why should the massmarket determine if I think the off screen play is enough for ME anyway? I though that was a personal oppinion. I never said that I was speaking for the mass market in the first place.
