Love this. 3d gaming at 1080p will no longer be limited to 24fps ^_^

So wait, you're telling me that people will still need to use dual link DVI for 1080p@ true 120hz refresh rate? HDMI 2.0 doesn't support it? What am I saying...its got to support it.

You can do 120hz now with a workaround

But it really sucks if they don't include official 120hz support.

Finally catching DisplayPort

HDMI 2.0 supports 1080p120 because it is the same than 2160p60.

Bandwidth isn't the issue. HDMI 1.3 has the bandwidh to push 1080p@120.

"Standardized" support is the problem. If this isn't standard, TV/monitor makers won't feel obligated to provide pannels which are able to push 120 hz by default and people who want this will have to "overclock" their refresh rate, void warranty and other fun stuff which comes with custom solutions to a problem that shouldn't exist.

Only 1 TV exists today which is able to push 1080p@120hz out of the box...and it is made by Seiki. Everything else is either hacked to support it or fake 120 hz.

Yeah I tried this exact method and it didn't go past 85hz on my TV. Also I think it fried something in my HDMI board as the TV I tried it on started behaving strange. I have to switch HDMI sources 2-3 times for it to recognize there is something plugged in.

We will see how these HDMI 2.0 TVs behave, but that Seiki 4K monitor that natively accepts 120hz 1080p may be a diamond in the rough.
