Forums - Gaming Discussion - Mario 64 wasnt the first true 3D platformer...Sony did it first

I'm going to guess that very few of you remember this, but when the PS1 launched, it launched with a demo disc in every box that included this old gem in 1995.

Jumping Flash!

It's been a very long time since I've seen anything of this game, but I do remember it from when i was quite young, good times :)

...uhh...ill just put my favorite quote of all time here.

"Welcome to Pain, the second of three...You have dealt the first...now deal with me!!"

I remember Jumping Flash but you shouldn't compare it to Mario64. Mario did so much more than Jumping Flash ever could, it can easily be overlooked.

Wow! Looks like Nintendo copies a lot from it as well. You never know what the past is going to bring up.

It's in first-person, which means it sidestepped all of the camera control questions Mario 64 is known for answering.

Here is a quick review of the game I found on Youtube, shows a lot more of the depth of the game than the vid in the OP

Yes indeedy.

OT: I really liked Jumping Flash, but if we're getting that technical about who did 3D platforming first, Alpha Waves (Continuum) has JF beat by five years:
