Pokemon died after Gen 2. Gen 1 and Gen 2 were great, and everything else has been stepping on my childhood. I bought gen 3 out of nostalgia and that had to be the worst game I ever played. I didn't know a game could strip so many features and still be considered good.

The hell you talking about?

What features were stripped?

Do you mean Apicorns?

The day of the week is no longer tracked?

The IV and berry overhual?

Those were really the only "stripped" features.

What was stripped? From what I've played, all I saw were the same features with a ton of new features added.

Are you serious? First of all Gen 2 actually added things that weren't in Gen 1 and the list would be incredibly long. Later gens have added almost nothing which is a negative in itself. Here are some things that were stripped from Gen 2 to Gen 3.  THE ENTIRE ATMOSPHERE. Day/Night. Real time events like recieving phone calls. There were dozens of daily events in Gen 2 and nearly none in any game since which to me devalues the entire game by a lot. And nothing was new in Gen 3 besides beauty contests which are so lame. Later gens added terrible pokemon like ice cream cones. I'm not going to debate with people who started with pokemon on a later gen...that's just ridiculous. They replaced team rocket with a near carbon copy yet more nonsensical and lame lame lame. The origins of the pokemon have no thought anymore...with Mewtwo there was a whole backstory...same with Ho-oh in Gen 2, ect. At least Colosseum had some soul to it even if it wasn't that long of a game. Every pokemon game after that has been terrible. I've beat gen 3, played gen 4, and seen videos on the newest games. They are all terrible in comparison to Gen 1 and 2. There are continuity issues everywhere. So many things seem unpolished. Rehash after rehash. The least they could do is give you more than 8 badges or something to do after you beat the game. Gen 2 had 16 badges and the old Kanto Region was placed in the future making it feel like a true sequel.

1. Dodrio
2. Ursaring
3, Snorlax
4. Exploud
5. Swellow

A normal/ghost would be cool. :)

i hate wen people take into account a pokemon that looks terrible and it represents a whole gen, 5thgen had like 3-4 terrible design families but so did my favorite gen which is the original. Muk=Garbordor / Electrode=Amoongus / Magneton = Vanilluxe imo. Anyway there is a whole lot of innovation now with XY so why not jump back in? You complained about same rehash/etc things ina new gen, since you missed last 3 and this new one which has tons of new feats its a great way to jump back in? If not i dont know why you jumped into this thread wen you clearly went off topic...

O boy.....time to open your eyes....

Gen III added:

Abilities + Natures

Weather Conditions (Rain, Sandstorm, Hail)

Double battles

Overhual of the IV system

Gen IV added:

Moves are now designated physical or special based on the move itself, rather than its type.(Fighting is no longer always physical, Psychic is no longer always special etc.)

International Trading and Battling via Online

IV's inheritance in Breeding

Gen V added:

Dream World Abilities

Triple and Rotation Battles

TM's are no longer one time use

Nature inheritance in Breeding via Everstone

As someone who plays competative all these changes are HUGE changes.

and awful designs apparently lol. My favorite gen (gen1) had some bad ones just as much as other gens. Gen 5 had some pretty damn cool designs despite ice cream and a garbage can. I think it might be pointless to argue, gen 4 became heavily competitive! and after that only got better !
