the discounts and free points I get from having XBL gold always covered the cost of the live since you can pretty much get it for 35-40 bucks a year and pile up....plus I use other non gaming features that rely on gold....
but you are not alone... you are just a minority of happy solo player....
I guess it also depends on how many of your friends have an XB with gold and play games that are co-op or MP enable.... XBL gold is almost the only contact I have with some of my friends.... we small talk while playing some co op or even just party chat while playing different games.... that way we can chitchat while not losing game time like we would have if we had used an other mean of communication
Same thing with me when I had a 360. But then again, using xbox live would have been tedious where I lived.
I never touched it. Unless you mean current owner then exclude me. I only owned one the first year and a half
Getting beaten by 12 or 13 year old kids and being called gay like it is the best insult they can come up with. You are not missing out much by staying offline.

nope, i didn't do xbl either. well, i had a silver to download a couple of games. ...but to be fair i did most (and all my multiplayer) gaming on ps3.
