Forums - Gaming Discussion - How much weight do reviews have on your purchasing decision?

So?

Alot, reviews come first 29 22.66%

Somewhat, reviews and faith 59 46.09%

None, blind faith! 27 21.09%

hmmmm 12 9.38%

Total:127

I voted for somewhat. I read alot of reviews to give me an idea about the game, but I know what I like and just get what I wanted, regardless of what a review saids.

When another Call of Duty style game gets close to 90% on Metacritic I really wonder if these reviews are just a marketing tool to promote the games and are just biased propaganda. The AA games in the 80% to 89% range have usually been as good or more enjoyable for me than the over hyped bigger budget AAA games.

If alot of people like them, then what's the problem? You can make an argument it's all biased propaganda, because all reviews are just someone's opinion. Alot of people like the gran turismo series and I'm not a big fan of racing games. Am,I suppose to think everybody is biased in that case. I mean it's all subjective.

The moment I bought Little Big Planet on day one I stopped caring about reviews.

why had it reviewed well and you hadn't liked it? Just that I didn't own a ps3 until recently and I got that game with it, absolutely love it to bits, no clue how it reviewed at and around launch tho.

From reviews it looked like the platformer since SMB3. No, I bought It and I think it's terrible. Terrible as a plaformer, just decent as a creating tool.

None. I like what I like.:D

The reviews themselves not so much, in fact id say nil. But I do read the reviews to construct my own 'review' of the game. I know exactly what I like and figure it out for myself whether I'm going to like a game or not.

i use reviews from a couple of different sources when making a decision to buy new or wait for a sale, buy it used, or not buy it at all.
