Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The "Wii U Haz No Games" Label Gone In A Month?

I think when people say "Wii U has no games" they're saying "Wii U has no exclusives." I mean it only really had 3 AAA ones at launch, but when you look at it, the launch was far from dry.

We got AC3, Darksiders 2, Black Ops 2, Mass Effect 3, Arkham City, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed, Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper, so on and so fourth.

Counting all the releases that have already come out this year, like Resident Evil, NFS: Most Wanted U, Injustice, Lego Batman 2, Lego City Undercover, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Game and Wario, Sniper Elite V2 (call it gimped or not, it's still a game.) and more.

So when you think about it, the Wii U "has no games" argument makes no sense, as it already has well over 50 games. The argument should be "the Wii U has no games I'm interested in and games I can get on my other consoles" not something as general as "the Wii U has no games" because that would be implying that the system has 0 games.

You know something funny though? Much like the Wii U, the PS4 only has 3 major exclusives at launch (Knack, DriveClub, and Killzone.) and nobody is saying a single thing about the PS4 having no games. So what gives? The argument makes no sense.

Well why do people buy Nintendo consoles? At least within the past couple of gens it sure hasn't been for third party multiplats. I have a Wii U yet no way am I getting anything but exclusives on the system. People buy xbox and playstation for 3rd party stuff so that's why no one thinks xbone or ps4 have no games.

Nintendo is doing a surprisingly good job trying to change this perception with all the games you listed but they aren't there yet.

If a gamer lived in a vacuum and only owned a Wii U their game library would be pretty impressive. However I think it's safe to assume the majority of people buying the system this early are core gamers that also own a 360 or PS3. I'm in this boat myself and from this perspective ya, the Wii U haz no gaemz.

Wii U is only for Nintendo exclusives, for multi-platforms games everyone will choose better versions like from PS4/PC/Xbone which most of them also own.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

It's definitly getting better. It's gone from litterally nothing of note outside a 2D Mario game that looks very much like its predecessor, to a pretty respectable and diverse library. Still not enough for me to invest though. I need my Smash Brothers, Mario Kart, 3D Mario game, Donkey Kong Country, Dragon Quest X, Yoshi.. AND a $250 price point, then we'll talk..

That's not a lot of games in a total of 9 months. From this point to the end of year, Vita will be having NEW games double the size of that list.

By this time next year the Wii U should have NSMBU, Nintendo Land, Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Sonic Lost World, DKC Tropical Freeze, SM3D World, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Yoshi Yarn, Smash Bros. 4, and much much more. Anyone who says the Wii U "haz no games" at this point needs to get some serious help!

I don't see it that way. Wihle all of those games are good, only the two from Platinum Games deviate from what you'd normally see on a Nintendo platform, so there's no much improvement for those who weren't Nintendo fans already.

This is a very good post.

Pay attention, everyone. This guy calls The Wonderful 101 a game that deviates from what you normally see on a Nintendo platform when it is in fact a game that very much looks like a Nintendo game. What lifts it above the usual Nintendo stuff is the development studio that makes it, nothing else. So what appeals to non-Nintendo fans are games that are not Nintendo games. This can either be factual or, like in this specific case, a mere illusion. The Wonderful 101 is a Nintendo IP, but since this isn't really common knowledge it doesn't have the stench of the Nintendo name attached to it, thus it's one of the most interesting Wii U exclusives.

LOL! xD

You should make post like these all the time!

That will stick until the end of the year. With 3D mario, Sonic and zelda out it will start diluting.

Consumers are unreasonable and very difficult to please, but that's the job that companies like Nintendo have taken on.

The "no games" stigma will persist for the rest of the year, but 2014 for Wii U will look like 2013 for the 3DS, except the Wii U faces stronger direct competition.

I completely agree with this post on all fronts.

I don't know what is more disappointing people waiting for mario, mario and more mario or the lack of 3rd party games that we are getting and shuld be buying that arn't even talked about my most Nintendo fans, like your Watch Dogs, AC IV, Rayman, Splinter Cell etc.. .

Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games!

In a world where certain fanboys still to this day try to claim the Ps3 still has no games, there will always someone to give the Wii-U the same treatment. I would only say the Wii-U will have that tag for a while, simply because I personally count multiplats as apart of a system's library, because they're not representative of that console. In the case of the Wii-U, it almost literally has no games at the moment, and that's not going to change for a while yet. Just the truth.
