Forums - Gaming Discussion - Has anyone ever thought of this... maybe its a good thing Wii U had a rough first year?

Will the Wii U be a success?

yes 231 70.43%

I don't think Ninty's strategy was to have a rough 1st year or for there to be such long delays in games being released. I really think they expected third parties, the bastards, to fill the gaps between the 1st party game releases. I think Nintendo will turn things around, but I'm not sure when that will happen.

I love My Wii U, and the potential it brings to gaming.

Wait... what?

The Wii was a success when it released, MS and Sony didn't have their motion control things out for awhile after the Wii released. Also, Sony and MS wouldn't be able to just come up with a Tablet controller in a few months time.

Edit: If the Wii U is a success there either will or won't be copies. If it isn't, there won't be any. Either way, it won't give Nintendo an advantage. I think... you've confused me... I think...

Here, think of it another way. If the Move and Kinect took time to be added onto the PS3/xb360, though it was a runnaway success, the time it takes the U to stagger and bounce back would theoretically correspond to an extra lag for Sony/MS to catch up, on top of the usual lag to catch up.

That's precisely the point. Likelast time the competition will have to wait and then play catch up if its a success. Were as if success was indicated early on the competition would have integrated a tablet controller at launch.

Okay, I understand now. Although I still disagree.

Explain why though. It would help.

Exactly. and i beleive x1 and p4 would have launched with tablet controllers had the Wii U sold 5 mil its first quarter.

For sure. If they did with Sixaxis -> Move, then they would defo do TouchPadController -> Padlet. They are in it for the money after all.

I thought I did, but I'll give it another go.

Wii U failing up to this point isn't good.

Wii U having copies isn't good.

Wii U not having copies doesn't matter. doesn't give a large advantage. (Edited.)

Overall, Nintendo doesn't win from having no 'copies' on the market, they didn't win in having a bad several months after the Wii U's release, either. Nintendo just didn't win this round... so far.

For sure, I see what you mean. The U struggling in its first year can't be good. What OP is saying I think is that, despite it all, it may be on the long run something that will catch the competition by surprise if (read when) it bounces back.

The 3DS doing poorly wasn't good at first, but now that it's taken its expected trend, it'll be hard for Sony to adjust to the rebound.

Maybe the 3DS won't be as good as it could have been, but the Vita now has little hope to make a comeback. It's called a crossover in basketball.

I feel as though the 3DS' failure didn't affect the Vita at all. Sony has called the shots on their system, and they were bad ones that didn't work. Sony is not helping the Vita, and now the 3DS' dominance isn't either.

I hope you see my point.
