Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony Xperia Z and Virgin Mobile

Im hoping this is the place to ask but could I buy the Sony Xperia Z phone from Sony's store and then have it activated through Virgin Mobile. This is my first time ever doing this sort of thing so thats why im asking because I have no idea what im doing.

I just dont feel like spending $70 a month for AT&T. So i wanted to take a cheaper route.

Thanks in advance!

If the phone is factory unlocked ( not branded with any logo except Xperia and Sony) then it should work with any network through supported frequency bands. more on that http://m.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_z-5204.php

Nice choice, that's one excellent phone :)

I'm pretty sure you can't use any phone with virgin, you have to buy and use a virgin mobile phone. I haven't checked the hack scene about this though. I have the Virgin HTC EVO 3D.

This could depend on what country you're in, but in the US and Canada, Virgin does sell SIM-only activations (i.e. a SIM without a phone). I didn't buy one of those, but I was able to move the SIM from my Virgin dumbphone to an unlocked iPhone. However, I don't have any data plan, so I can't comment on that functionality.

Ah damn I hope not that would suck. I hope you can buy any phone. I really wanna upgrade but dont want to pay more then $60 dollars. I personally feel its not worth much more then that.

Ya I live in the U.S. curretly have At&T and dont wanna pay for 3GB a month priced at $72. I was looking for a cheaper option. This excites me hopefully it will work!

I dont think the xperia z has an cdma version.. It only has a gsm version.. I think

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I think it depends on if the phone is locked or unlocked.
