Forums - Sony Discussion - God Eater 2 Overtakes Monster Hunter 4 on Amazon Japan’s Best Sellers, Did The Vita Find its Killer Application?

I own a Vita and want it to be successful, but man this was just desperate.

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

Monster Hunter 4 sold out few times on Amazon Japan already. There's shipments issues from the very beginning. And this is only reason why MH4 not on #1 always on the bestsellers list.

A LOT of Vita games charted #1 on Amazon Japan. Even niche titles like Neptunia. They're "killer upps"? D:

God Eater 2 will sell good. But nowhere near MonHun.

I think the sales numbers will be good enough to make Capcom regret not having a Vita Monster Hunter title.

Based on your logic, Square Enix was regretted they not released FFVII-XII on (for example) Nintendo systems, like N64 and GameCube where they can sell additional 200K copies? LOL Or SE nowadays regretted that it not released DQ IX on PSP? (It sold millions on DS). Don't make me laugh.

3DS is dominates Japan, it has big and growing userbase (already at 11m+ and will be around 15m by the end of 2013 in Japan alone) and it has MH fanbase. And Vita even after $100 price cut not showing anything special in sales and again dropped to <10K levels for a few times.

I doubt Capcom will regret. Get real, Vita even doesn't received Resident Evil Revelations port.

the reason MH isnt coming to the vita cause nintendo paid Capcom to take one of its best seeling franchise out of sony.....talk about pulling a microsoft there....and besides capcom should make a new engine for the vita if they tried making a new MH they just cant do an HD MH they are just lazy and just uses the ps2 MH engine to develop on the 3ds which on my opinion mh4 looks just like the psp mh with no jaggies and slightly better resolution....though business wise its a win for them for sure.....

Thought this was already announced for localisation.

As others have said, God Eater 2 should do very well, though certainly not on Monster Hunter's level. It's a franchise with an identity and one that hits a lot of the switches the Japanese like--hunting, anime-type characters, and pretty girls with strange outfits. Personally, I'm much more interested in God Eater than MonHon, which has never appealed to me very much.

I think the sales numbers will be good enough to make Capcom regret not having a Vita Monster Hunter title.

I agree. If the vita version can get to 350-400k, it will be clear that a monhun port would be lucrative.

Persona 4 is the best selling game on Vita in Japan and it's at 250k.   350-400k seems out of reach for GE2 at this point.

If you mean globally, then I suppose it's possible but Namco Bandai have issues bringing games outside of Japan these days.  Even then it would still be very unlikely to hit 400k as only 6 games so far have (retail only) and they are all very big IPs (Uncharted, CoD, AC, Persona, LBP and FIFA).

God Eater is pretty huge in japan, i'm expecting a 400k opening for the vita and 120k for psp

God Eater on PSP opened to 295k at the point when PSP was at its peak.  I don't see GE2 coming even half that level.

Don't forget, the game is also releasing on PSP.  That will eat into a lot of potential sales on Vita.

Oh pokoko...

How different your argument would be, if Sony's and Nintendo's roles were reversed.

Rol, you know good and well that reasoning is only valid in when it supports their narrative.
