Forums - Nintendo Discussion - It seems that Nintendo's recent deals are focused on getting 3DS and WiiU owners online. (And on Club Nintendo)

Too many games- Buy 3 games, register them to Club Nintendo, and get a DL version of a 4th game for free.

SMT+Fire Emblem deal-Register both to Club Nintendo and get $30 worth of e-shop credit

Pikmin 3+Wonderful 101 deal-Get 30% off on Wonderful 101 download if you previously download Pikmin 3.

It seems that they're trying to increase the awareness of the existence of an e-shop/digital content in general, (I was not aware that Wii had an online store for VC until sometime late 2011 lol) as well as Club Nintendo (also not aware that this existed until Skyward Sword came out and I actually read the Club packet)

Nintendo already stayed themselves that they found out that people who already DLed games digitally were more likely to buy another full retail game digitally, maybe this their way to push digital sales as well as the 1st step in getting an online gaming community, having consoles connected online in the 1st place. I know far too many people who haven't connected their Wii.

Makes sense. They make more money off of digital sales afterall, since stuff is being bought directly from them. No packaging, shipping, handling required. They're also going to be the only next gen home console with free online, so they should definitely make people aware of this. Now if only they would actually put online multiplayer in their games. I'm looking at you NSMBU, Pikmin 3, M&S Olympics, DKCTF, and Super Mario Cats!

I think Nintendo doing this is a really good idea. I think, this alone, can prove that Nintendo isn't "out of touch." They know what they are doing. They know they need to push their online options, they aren't stupid.

yeah it mystifies me how they expect a logical consumer to pay the same for a digital/physical copy u can sell it for half it's price used and the digital copy has no nostalgic value to speak of. I respect the desicion not to undercut retailers though.

Well, Thanks to "So many games" I already bought MH3U online and downloaded Animal Crossing. Now on the WiiU I will get both Pikmin3 and W101 online. Success, I'd say.

Well so far this approach is working for me at least. I never planned to get SMT IV but thanks to the FE deal I got the game and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Really hope they keep doing this kind of deals.

Same with me. it's actually my first SMT game but I'm loving it. Probably gonna pick up some other games in the series once I finish it.

Got my SMT IV in the mail today so excited to submit my codes and get $30 credit towards some thing.
