Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Taking the 3DS Plunge. 3DS or XL?

From what I have seen, the 3DS doesn't have many deals, just being $170. The XL is $199 but comes with Starfox 3DS (and retails for $35).

What would you recomend? Is the screen size a big difference and any other factors that would set the other apart that would make the XL worth getting?

Nice designs but I personally just wanted a Black one, for whichever I plan to buy.

XL ... the bigger screen goes a long way in my view, and with that you won't feel the need to upgrade in the face of successive SKUs.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

Buy the 3DS XL. Whenever stepping into a different console family, you should almost always go with the latest iteration of that console. (I also think the XL comes with a larger SD Card... not sure, though.)

Get the XL. The bigger screen is really nice. I find it actually helps with the 3d effect as well. I can move my head a bit and still keep the effect, whereas with the regular 3DS the slightest movement would skew the 3d.

The XL also just feels better in your hands, unless you're a young kid with small hands. If you're over the age of 14 or 15 you'll appreciate the ergonomics of the XL.

Didnt know those 2 points. Thank you that goes a long way for me.

The 3DS is a little too small for my hands, meaning the L/R buttons cut into them a bit - the XL doesn't have that issue

Get the XL. sure its bigger and doesn't fit in your pocket as well, but the bigger screen comes a long way. everything just looks more gorgeous and the 3D effect works a lot better. it feels nice in your hands as well, and although it does have a longer lasting battery, its not by much. I think its an hour at the most.

and that deal you found where you get starfox 3D with it, should pretty much seal your decision on getting an XL. its really the better way to go.

for games, just look at my sig. all games worth getting are there imo, and a few that will release soon.

I have the reg 3DS, but it's a launch unit. My buddy has the XL and it's super nice.
