Forums - Sony Discussion - Are The Expensive Memory Cards Killing The Vita?

What do you think of the memory cards?

Should have gone with SD cards. 97 78.23%

I like the current memory cards 18 14.52%

lack of compelling software is the worst issue right now, then the price of the system, and then this.

The poll doesnt really express the problem.

The problem is the memory cards are too expensive. Price is everything, You have made an assumption that tech difference relates to price, which isnt always true.

It is really quite bad. Sony have helped out a bit with some bundles that come with a memory card (can't remember if it is 4GB or 20GB)

GAME.co.uk have recent had a deal where you get a Vita with a game for £150, but then you have to spend £30 to get an 8GB card. For comparison a 3DS is £140... And this is a discounted deal. If the price came down a bit and a few extra games showed up, then the Vita might really take off

It's just one of the problems the Vita has.

It doesn't sound as though I'm the only one who believes Sony should phase out the 4GB cards on account of them being next to useless for anything beyond casual use, which is presumably something they're not trying to promote.

At this point, they are either free bundle items, or something to sell to someone who is buying on a shoestring budget who will shortly discover after using the PSV that they'll need or at least want more space.

I've bought a few chip games, but frankly, I'm going to say I prefer the convenience of just having my games ready to go rather than swapping and loading cards.

Memory cards and price TBH

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

''Are ... killing the Vita?'' - would imply that the Vita is still alive in some form -- ok terrible attempt to a joke

Now yes, i think those expensive memory cards are indeed part of the problem

Meh. The 360 and PSP managed to do just fine with unnecessarily expensive storage. Its a software issue plain and simple.

They should really drop it, or atleast do some actions or make some cool bundles with them.
I think sony is making quite a profit on them tbh. Maybe one of the only ways to make vita profitable?

The vita is sure clinging on for life. What a trooper! The memory cards are prob one of the problems.
