Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is PS4 dominating One in internet polls a hint at hardcore gamers heavily favoring it?

Tagged games:

So site, in France, with mostly French traffic, advertised for a month on PlayStation fan sites, and that has only recently (2 days ago) seen traffic on major gaming sites, has a stronger showing for the PS4. Why should anyone be surprised by this?

I'm also guessing you can answer multiple times too.

Hardcore games buy all consoles.

Nope.  Bought Wii and PS3 this gen.  Played Gears and Halo at a friends house.  Not into online MP so we just played the campaigns.  360 didn't have enough to make me warrant the $200 I had waiting for it.  I'd sooner get a gaming PC than get a One (twice as expensive but then you get their console exclusives and Steam sales along with 60fps on everything).  Sony and Nintendo give me unique and plentiful experiences so I reward them.  MS needs to prove they can do this as well or they'll never see a dime from me and I consider myself hardcore (I have like 40 plats.  Not bragging just to show how many hours I put into games).

You obviously didn't read my other message. It's a shame you've only played Gears and Halo, though. Halo is pretty boring.

You can answer everything multiple times. Who is to say the Xbox fans can't or wouldn't do it, too? It's always the Playstation fans that are the devious tricksters.

That's because we're on the dark side... we're evil, very very evil.

I don't think Hardcore gamers are hugely in favor of either console.. at the moment.. both sides have games that make good arguments.. to buy their systems.. I really think as far as hardcore gamers go.. the numbers are a lot closer than those polls show.. I also believe that maybe those who would vote for Microsoft are probably sick of seeing the bad PR and all these polls.. and most likely don't even bother.. and I know at the end of the day.. how consumers vote with their wallets is a heck of a lot more important than how people vote on a online poll.. so really.. I would not jump to any conclusions.. or even haphazard a guess at this point.. it's still entirely to early to determine.. one way or the other..

Nintendo Wii by generations...

1. Wii

2. Wii U

3. Wii O U

Predictions made by gamers concerning the current Nintendo line up of games.

Pikmen 3= Little Bump to nothing. (Got Little Bump)

Wind Waker HD= Won't sell anything (The explosion happened here and at one time 4 Wii U games was in the Amazon top 100)

Super Mario 3D World= Won't help at all looks cheap. (Currently the most sought after Wii U game and continuing the Wii U increase.)

The PS4 outsells the Xbone 5:3 atm IIRC, so it's not only on forums. Although you could argue that since most pre-orders are online and the internet is ruled by Sony fans...smh, I'm out.

Remember that the internet is full of bandwagon jumpers. Sony has the momentum right now but don't forget how it was when it cost $600 and had no games.

Anyway, the majority of the hardcore probably favor the Playstation brand. That's only a very tiny portion of the core demographic, though, which is likely to be much more split, with many of the "casual-core" who only play one or two big titles a year leaning toward the Microsoft side of things.

However, the Playstation brand is proven to still be stronger than the Xbox brand, so Microsoft will have to really win people over if they want to grow market-share in the coming generation and clearly they haven't gotten off to a good start in that regard.

It's important to target hardcore gamers, because no one else is going to go out and buy either console day 1 (possibly some wealthy parents will buy them for their kids). PS4 seems to have the edge with the hardcore, but we'll likely see a mammoth marketing campaign from Microsoft at the end of the year.

Since the ps3 shipped with an Internet browser from day 1 Sony fans are more in tune on how to use the Internet and they probably have better and more stable Internet than the xbox fans this is why all the always online stuff was remove from the X1, Xbox fans are not really used yet to online and everything attached to it

Expanding on this point, it could be because Xbox fans are used to using Bing instead of Google which makes it hard for them to find what they want when they search for "Xbox One vs PS4 internet poll"

Ha!

Did my comment imply one or the other?  I just said "I'm also guessing you can answer multiple times too."

Read in too much?

I put absolutely no weight behind any Internet poll, collection of views, likes, dislikes, etc.

If they meant anything whatsoever, Wii would have sold 15 units and Battlefield would have outsold MW3 or Black Ops 2 by a 10:1 ratio.
