Forums - Sony Discussion - Tretton: “To Force Every Consumer” To Have a Camera “Ends up Coming up a Little Bit Short”, “It Should be a Choice”

Why can't I have the choice of being able to play online for free without having PS+ shoved down my throat?

I agree with Tretton, but since you have to pay for online for the PS4 he contradicts his statement.

Hey, look! Someone who picked out the samething I did.

It's almost impossible to not be hypocritical in this industry. (For certain companies.) Maybe if Tretton just said that they don't force a camera upon you then he would sound a little less ridiculous. Then he goes for "it should be a choice line" and it all crumbles.

Ah well.

When Comparing a massive Failure for two straight generartions to an Industry success.... You should claim that you don't want to force the third iteration of said failure to your customers....Maybe Third time is the charm?....Well Maybe not since it has no games....

Eyetoy was a success. PS Eye on PS3 was poorly supported but Eyetoy on PS2 did very well.

Well PS Plus IS a choice. You don't have to buy it and it's not forced into the price when buying the console

..still would've preferred it to be free though

If you want to play online multi-player it is required. No? (Unless something changed.)

I'm glad Tretton is commenting on this, last time he criticized MS they changed their whole policy. Hopefully they will change this one as well.

Didn't the PS2 Eye Toy only have like 1 game on it? I cant really remember

The PS Eye had

The Eye Of Judgement

Trials Of Topaq

Operation Creature Feature

Wasn't the PS Eye the best supported camera in the gaming circle(lol)? It wasn't much but i believe it was the best out of all the gaming cameras to buy before Kinect came. I could be wrong though

Tretton is right. Consumers shouldn't be forced to pay for a camera that Sony isn't going to support in any meaningful way.

I skimmed this article because it seemed like it was taken from the ign interview but i believe Jack was talking about the PS4 Eye and not MS

Didn't Sony remove the camera at the last second?
