I've been off the grid for over a week. Is Turing and the 9900k out yet?

Get back to the freezer again and don't come back in at least 5 more weeks.

I said five weeks for more Turing and Intel's latest... and I may not be completely wrong IF the following is true:

GeForce GTX 1180 announced late August - 1180+, 1170 and 1160 to follow
http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/geforce-gtx-1180-announced-late-august-11801170-and-1160-to-follow.html
More news from the NVIDIA front today. We already learned that there is NVIDIA activity during Gamescom in Germany, add to that an email proclaiming one to be from NVIDIA towards a board partner. This email talks about GeForce GTX 1180, 1170, 1180+ and 1160 by name.
The email and thus information leaked onto youtube channel Gamer Meld. Much like anything and everything on this topic, we cannot confirm the validity of that email and info. it is highly unusual that such a sensitive email would make it to the public, really HIGHLY unlikely. However, we cannot ignore the fact it's there. If it is real, then expect 30th August and 30 October as launch dates for some products. Basically, this is what the preliminary launches could/would look like:

  • GeForce GTX 1180 on 30th August
  •  GeForce GTX 1170/1180+ in 30th September
  •  GeForce GTX 1160 on 30th October

You'll notice a 1180+. We're not sure about it, but are fairly certain that the GeForce GTX 1180: 30th August launch would be a founders edition, and the + very likely is a board partner board, AIB cards always launch later. All this info makes that email sound plausible (but really also could very well be tremendously fake). The email also mentions 21st August for a press conference call, for the partners.

As the article says, don't take it for certain.

I remember a "recent" article that said thatt he recent floods in China could help with that because a lot of mining farms were destroyed during that desaster. I didn't put much faith in it, but it could help with the stock problem they have/had.

Are you sure that those water cooled GPUs aren't just running twice as fast, further exacerbating the stock problem?

Not really. It's obvious that they're noobs and they don't know how to properly watercool. And of course, the result it a disaster...

Unfortunately, the games that most of you are interested (The Last of Us and the Resistance games) are not yet playable on this Playstation 3 emulator. It’s cool witnessing them going in-game, however, The Last of Us runs poorly at the moment and there are graphical glitches with the Resistance games.

PCG's in-house Yakuza aficionado Phil "Kazuma Kiryu" Savage bows his head in appreciation.

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind gets a hardcore difficulty mod
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-elder-scrolls-iii-morrowind-gets-a-hardcore-difficulty-mod/
Modder ‘Teralitha’ is currently working on a hardcore difficulty mode for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and has released a new version of it. This mod is for experienced players only and aims to increase the challenge so its no longer a walk in the park.
As the modder noted, even though every single creature in the game is been made stronger, players won’t notice much difference until they encounter higher level ones. Rats and mudcrabs are still easy to kill, but players should still notice how much stronger they are compared to vanilla.

>>This mod is also available from Nexus Mods.

Created by modder ‘gg77’, the “Godzilla and Co – Mounts and Armies” adds three monsters from the Godzilla universe and allows players to ride them.
The three monsters that will be added to Skyrim thanks to this mod are: Godzilla, Mecha Godzilla and Rodan.

>>Guess what, this mod is also available from Nexus Mods.

With the simplest of descriptions—"strike your enemies down with the power of a god and watch them fly away!"—Filipe's project grants the Dragonborn superhuman strength. As the footage above shows, punching enemies around the map yields some pretty funny results—and doing so in vaults and keeps and the likes sends baddies pinballing off walls, floors and ceilings.

>>Available from... yep, Nexus Mods.

This romhack will allow you to control Waluigi in Super Mario 64
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/this-romhack-will-allow-you-to-control-waluigi-in-super-mario-64/
Kaze Emanuar has released a new romhack for Super Mario 64 that allows players to take control of Waluigi. And since Waluigi has never gotten his own game, we are pretty sure that his fans – and not only them – will find this romhack interesting.
As Kaze Emanuar noted, this is just a little teaser for a game that will be coming out soon, starring Waluigi. In case you weren’t aware of, Waluigi is Luigi’s arch-rival (pretty much like Wario is the arch-rival of Mario).

>>Download this romhack from Mega, and remember that you'll need an emulator to use it... and talking about emulators.

Nintendo files lawsuit against emulator sites
https://www.pcgamer.com/nintendo-files-lawsuit-against-emulator-sites/
The emulation of old console games on PC is a complicated subject, and one we've written about extensively, as in this piece on The ethics of emulation: how creators, the community, and the law view console emulators. Nintendo's approach is a more straightforward one. They don't like it.
Two ROM-hosting websites, LoveROMs and LoveRETRO, are the target of a recent lawsuit by Nintendo (a pdf of which is hosted at TorrentFreak). There's a lot in that 27-page filing, but here's an explanation of why these sites in particular have been chosen, out of all the similar sites that exist.

This Half-Life mod will let you replace Gordon Freeman with Spyro the Dragon
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-half-life-mod-will-let-you-replace-gordon-freeman-with-spyro-the-dragon/
Year of the Dragon is a mod for the original Half-Life currently being created by modder Magic Nipples. When complete, it will let you play Valve's classic shooter not as a nerdy physicist who is somehow able to demolish SWAT teams, but as lovable purple dragon Spyro.
Year of the Dragon has been in the works since November of last year and has made plenty of progress. In the video below you can see how a third-person camera works with Half-Life, as well as check out the gliding mechanics in action. The gib test for Spyro's death animation is a bit off-putting, to be honest.

A modding team has recreated Doom 64 in vanilla Doom II
https://www.pcgamer.com/a-modding-team-has-recreated-doom-64-in-vanilla-doom-ii/
Doom 64 has been properly ported into GZDoom before, so if you want a close-to-authentic experience of the game, Doom 64: Retribution is probably what you're after. But if you want to play the Doom 64 maps in the vanilla Doom engine, modder / .wadder Mechadon has you sorted.
"The goal was to recreate the major aspects of the maps while allowing for creative liberties where needed or wanted," the project leader writes on Doomworld. "There are lots of new graphics, some new textures (like skies), some new music tracks, a couple of new monsters, and minor enhancements for folks who play in advanced ports (like GZDoom)."

Ex-Valve employee describes ruthless internal politics at 'self-organizing' companies
https://www.pcgamer.com/ex-valve-employee-describes-ruthless-industry-politics/
Former Valve employee Rich Geldreich, who worked at the company between 2009 and 2014, has spent the past several days tweeting detailed accounts of the internal politics at 'self-organizing' companies—one of which he says is based in Bellevue, Washington, where Valve is headquartered. Some of Geldreich's comments could be about any self-organizing company (that is, a company without a traditional hierarchical management structure), but other, more specific references suggest he is largely talking about Valve. For instance, he comments on mass layoffs in 2013, and we know layoffs occurred at Valve that year.

Destiny 2 players find secret mission to unlock new Whisper of the Worm Exotic sniper
https://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2-players-find-secret-mission-believed-to-unlock-black-spindle-exotic-sniper/
Earlier today, Destiny 2 players found a secret, timed, 380-Power mission called "The Whisper," which is attached to a public event that occurs on Io. At the time of writing, nobody has finished the mission yet (or at least posted proof of it), so the reward for completing it is still a mystery. But given the nature of the mission—a timed, alternate challenge full of Taken—Destiny veterans are confident that it contains Black Spindle, an Exotic sniper rifle from Destiny 1 which was unlocked in a similar way.
Update: Multiple players have confirmed that while the secret Io mission doesn't reward Black Spindle, per se, completing it does get you a revamped version of the Exotic sniper called Whisper of the Worm.

Old-school shooter Ion Maiden delayed, adding multiplayer beta
https://www.pcgamer.com/old-school-shooter-ion-maiden-delayed-adding-multiplayer-beta/
Good news and bad news for fans of classic first-person shooters. The good news is that players who've bought the Early Access version of Ion Maiden, the retro shooter being made in the same engine as Duke Nukem 3D, will gain access to a forthcoming multiplayer beta. Developers Voidpoint are calling the multiplayer "classic" and "fast-paced" though what specific modes it will have has not been announced. That brings us to the bad news—Ion Maiden's launch has been delayed to 2019.

Crying Suns smashes Kickstarter goal, aims to be FTL but with more story
https://www.pcgamer.com/crying-suns-smashes-kickstarter-goal-aims-to-be-ftl-but-with-more-story/
Crying Suns, a new space roguelike with a gradually unfolding story, has smashed its Kickstarter goal, and has to date raised nearly double the €25,000 it initially asked for. It's no wonder: it looks excellent, and aims to blend the tight resource management and decision making of FTL with more freeform exploration, putting a bigger emphasis on story than FTL did.
