So, yesterday I saw in person one of those Samsung 49" monitors, and my God that thing is large! It's hilarious. If I had one of those, I would end with neck pain, like if I had watched a tennis match from the net.

I can't believe they've sold enough of those to make a bigger, 5120x1440, model... or maybe it didn't sell enough and Samsung is trying again with a bigger res to see if that changes something.

Please excuse my bad English.

Stardew Valley multiplayer mod lets you farm with unlimited players
https://www.pcgamer.com/stardew-valley-multiplayer-mod-lets-you-farm-with-unlimited-players/
The Stardew Valley multiplayer beta allows you to invite up to three players to your farm over the internet or a LAN connection. Since they need a place to live, you also need to build them three cabins. But what if you want, say, a hundred friends to join you in Stardew Valley for some farming royale?
The answer is: mods. The Unlimited Players mod for the Stardew Valley multiplayer beta uncaps the limit on friends and cabins, so invite as many pals as you want. Keep in mind, if you want scores of friends on your farm you'll still need to build each of them a cabin, at least for now. The mod, which is a work in progress, may lift the one-cabin-per-day build limit or remove the requirement for cabins altogether in the future.

Dark Souls 3 'Don't Stop Moving' mod kills you for being too slow
https://www.pcgamer.com/dark-souls-3-dont-stop-moving-mod-kills-you-for-being-too-slow/
With Dark Souls Remastered out on Friday, I've got Dark Souls fever. And while I've spent the last several weeks testing the original game's most challenging mods, today's intrigue showcases modder Loki's Don't Stop Moving—a player-made Dark Souls 3 project whose idle health degeneration echoes the '94 film Speed. Sort of.
(...)
Only when moving does it level off—and the speed of depletion is tied to your Vigor Level. Furthermore, this mod caps your Estus Flask at five servings. "Bone Shards can still upgrade the amount healed," explains Loki, "but once you hit 5 total Estus, that's it."

Hearthstone's latest round of nerfs is now live
https://www.pcgamer.com/hearthstones-latest-round-of-nerfs-are-now-live/
The latest round of Hearthstone balance changes is now live: That means a big jump in the Naga Sea Watch Mana cost, a smaller increase to Spiteful Summoner, a significant nerf to the amount Dark Pact heals for, and a change to the Quest Rogue quest reward that should make it a little less brutal against slow decks (but will still probably be annoyingly strong).

Earthfall, a co-op shooter that mixes Left 4 Dead with Fortnite, leaves Early Access in July
https://www.pcgamer.com/earthfall-a-co-op-shooter-that-mixes-left-4-dead-with-fortnite-leaves-early-access-in-july/
Earthfall is an end-of-the-world shooter that's very reminiscent of the Left 4 Dead games: Four players working together to fend off charging hordes of bad guys across multiple multi-mission campaigns. But instead of zombies, it's aliens this time around, and you can build defensive fortifications to help hold off the horde, giving the game a bit of a Fortnite twist.
It's been in Steam Early Access for a little over a year now, and today developer Holospark announced that it will go into full release on July 13.

Mike Bithell's new game Quarantine Circular is another weird text adventure
https://www.pcgamer.com/mike-bithells-new-game-quarantine-circular-is-another-weird-text-adventure/
Three years after the release of Thomas Was Alone, and just one year after Volume, developer Mike Bithell discussed plans for two new games: a "smaller" project and a "seismic, massive" one. Last year, Bithell released the smaller project on that list: Subsurface Circular, a short text adventure headlined by some strange robots. It seems he found room for another small game, because today Bithell abruptly released Quarantine Circular, a completely separate but equally short text adventure. You can get it on Steam for $6 (or $4.79 if you buy by May 29).

I can't believe they've sold enough of those to make a bigger, 5120x1440, model... or maybe it didn't sell enough and Samsung is trying again with a bigger res to see if that changes something.

That would be ultra wide. Not a fan. Needs to be 5120x2880 to retain 16:9. And needs to be 120hz and 10-bit at a minimum going forward. :P

You do actually get used to bigger display sizes though, my next monitor will probably be 40-something inches.

40" 4K HDR 144Hz G-sync would be amazing.

That's ultra-ultra wide, as it's 32:9 instead of the 21:9 of the usual ultras. Actually, there are new terms for those monitors: the actual 3840x1080 model is called DFHD (dual full HD) and the 5120x1440 will be... you guessed it right, DQHD (Dual quad HD).

But I guess there's a market for it. It would be like two 2560x1440 monitors glued together.

Well, gaming on ultrawides like that is great if you use them properly - as a way to have better peripheral vision. If you sit too close and do indeed turn your head too much, I guess you might end up with neck pain eventually (though, this is basically 2 wide monitors side by side, something that I've been using at work for some 15 years without any problems).

I agree that distance is key. But it's hard to appreciate how wide that thing is until you manage to see it in person.

I've seen ultrawides before, but even they look small compared to that thing .

Oh, I have a fair idea about its size - that's, more or less, 2x 24inch monitors slapped together. I have that setup currently at work, they are at 1m distance from my eyes.

At home I have my 23" monitor next to a 23" TV, and I use both at the same time. Still, I was impressed by the size of it.

What can I say, I'm easy to impress.
