The 2018 Overwatch Anniversary Event is live, bringing new skins to the game and a new Overwatch Legendary Edition that's now available for purchase. More than 50 new cosmetic items have been added for the big birthday party, all past seasonal cosmetics are back, previous season brawls will rotate on a daily basis, and there's a new Deathmatch map to play on called Petra, an Indiana Jones-looking joint with a breakable floor that will drop you to your death.

 

Nexus Mods launches reward system for modders, seeds it with $100,000

Nexus Mods, the long-running and popular repository of mods for PC games like Skyrim, The Witcher 3, Stardew Valley, and hundreds of others, has implemented a system that will allow mod authors to earn money for their work. The system is designed to award mod makers donation points based on the number of unique downloads their mod files receive each month—and those points can be traded for cash. To seed the program, Nexus Mods has put up $100,000, which it will use for payments to participating mod authors over the next 12 months.

The latest round of Hearthstone balance changes is now live: That means a big jump in the Naga Sea Watch Mana cost, a smaller increase to Spiteful Summoner, a significant nerf to the amount Dark Pact heals for, and a change to the Quest Rogue quest reward that should make it a little less brutal against slow decks (but will still probably be annoyingly strong).

 

Earthfall, a co-op shooter that mixes Left 4 Dead with Fortnite, leaves Early Access in July

Earthfall is an end-of-the-world shooter that's very reminiscent of the Left 4 Dead games: Four players working together to fend off charging hordes of bad guys across multiple multi-mission campaigns. But instead of zombies, it's aliens this time around, and you can build defensive fortifications to help hold off the horde, giving the game a bit of a Fortnite twist.
It's been in Steam Early Access for a little over a year now, and today developer Holospark announced that it will go into full release on July 13.

 

Mike Bithell's new game Quarantine Circular is another weird text adventure

Three years after the release of Thomas Was Alone, and just one year after Volume, developer Mike Bithell discussed plans for two new games: a "smaller" project and a "seismic, massive" one. Last year, Bithell released the smaller project on that list: Subsurface Circular, a short text adventure headlined by some strange robots. It seems he found room for another small game, because today Bithell abruptly released Quarantine Circular, a completely separate but equally short text adventure. You can get it on Steam for $6 (or $4.79 if you buy by May 29).
