Forums - Sony Discussion - PlayStation 3 firmware update reportedly bricking consoles

VG247

Shortly after the release of a new firmware update for PlayStation 3 a few hours ago, reports of bricked consoles turned up. The firmware has since been pulled, and we’re awaiting more information on what action those affected should take. According to Gematsu the update allowed you to switch off trophy notifications via the System Settings menu.

Has this happened to any of you?

I hope not, as I have auto updates on. And I just bought a new white PS3 Super Slim 2 days ago!

Haven't updated my PS3 yet. Hope it doesn't break down.

auto-update only downloads firmware updates, it doesn't install them
