:( Double post...

I will take this chance and add this: What ethomaz is saying is also true. You say that five years from now Sony is going to finally realise that going digital was the right direction when in fact, both of the consoles digital offerings are almost exactly the same. So no, Sony won't have to do any catch ups on the digital front, regardless of how happy you apparently would be if that happened...

And every title in PS4 will be available day one for digital and retail.

Sony give you choice.

That's fine. Choice is good...But are you are telling me that they are going to match Microsoft with a digital ecosystem as well as keep retail disk based gaming alive and take care of every man, woman and child and leave no one behind. All this while keeping the same or better user experience?

And that I won't have a situation like I did last night where I bought the Last of Us on PSN and it took 30 minutes to download and 7 HOURS to install?

But yeah, slow disk loading retail games will still be there...thats a plus right?

Except, Sony has a bunch of new social features that as far as I'm aware Microsoft isn't even considering. Hell, being able to watch my friend play a live game from different location is very impressive to me. I mean, I can imagine myself watching BasilZero get destroyed by some RPG boss right now, and then taking over his game (Since you are allowed to take over someone's game, with permission I'm guessing) and beat that boss for him. Or give him pointers, etc. That to me, is the biggest "game" changer I've seen coming out of these 3 game consoles.

shush, sony doesnt bring anything new to the market. MS does with kinect and cloud. lets forget PS eye and all the features you mentioned

If the past week is anything to go by it looks like that trail MS is blazing leads right out of the console business.

I disagree... When Apple, Android devices and Microsoft ecosystems are running the digital gaming landscape 5 years from now and Sony is yelling "hey guys, we do digital too if you'd like"...we will see who made the right bet.

Accept Sony does do digital... Are you serious right now?  Sony gives their consumers options, Microsoft is taking them away.  The only way microsofts approach will be successful and permeate the entire industry is if we allow it to, by supporting this bullshit.  I would absolutely love for nothing more than for Microsoft to backpedal a bit and at least drop this drm bullshit so that I can feel good about owning every system, but as it stands, I simply refuse to support this movement.  Sony and ninty all the way.

You just don't understand what a sound digital ecosystem is if you think that you can be half digital and half not. Xbox 360 and PS3 did "digital"...its the current staus quo.

You people are just not seeing the benefits of going digital and are jsut focusing on DRM and olways on as huge drawbacks. I refuse to believe that the people who use the internet can't see the benefits of a digital gaming library.

For example, how is Sony going to allow you to digitally share disk based games with friends and both play them in seperate households? You have to currier the disk back and forth...That sucks.

You just dont understand what it means to be a consumer and have options.  Microsoft is forcing this shit on anyone who decides to buy an xbone, Sony is giving you the option to purchase digital or retail and keep it that way.  Not everyone wants to purchase their games digitally or be forced to install their games to their hard drive.  Also, the sharing feature on the xbone limits that particular games use to one user at a time, essentially being the same as lending a physical disc to a friend.  It's as Badgenome mentioned above, insteand of incentivizing consumers to go strictly digital, Microsoft is forcing it upon you without giving you nearly as many benefits and options that Sony is.  Two different approaches, one drastically more consumer friendly than the other.  Do you have a brain?

you are spreading false information and nonesense all over this thread, give it a rest will ya

AND FOR THE LAST TIME SONY CAN DO CLOUD COMPUTING EVENTUALLY. But people seem to forget they can also do cloud streaming already which in my opinion is better. Cloud computing allows for a 5mb/s average worth of computation. In perspective modern day cpu s perform calculations closer to 20000MB/s. unless internet speed skyrockets while staying cheap, cloud computing is a fallacy, like blast processing. (dont forget about fucking latency)

...

@bolded: Where do you get that information from? If you deduce it from the expected mean value of internet speeds, then that deduction is wrong. There doesn't necessarily need to be a correlation between the amount of calculations done in the cloud and the amount of data that will be eventually transmitted.

bizarre-galaxy.de - My Browsergame, but sadly only in german :(

You can play as an octopus, though!

So looking at your profile you must be a Microsoft employee???  Do you think anyone except for other Microsoft employees will take you seriously? At all???

I want to game on a console, first and formost.  Anything else will be regulated to the 5% category.  In that 5% I dont want much, BR drive, Netflix, Amazon Prime...etc.  I dont want a camera (Kinect/Move) I just want to game.  I want those extra's to be free (PSN).

I will pay for multiplayer especially if I get extra's (PS+).

Microsoft took there Xbox One deeper down that "NO Effing Way" hole more than they did with Windows 8.

.............. every man, woman and child?  Because everyone on the planet has an internet connection, and ask those dozens of countries that wont be recieving any xbones what they think about that... such irony.

Sony is improving the digital infrastructure and there are a lot of new features over it like the part you just download part of the game and already can play it while the rest of the download is done.

The PS3 have a crap HDD interface and a bad filesyste... that the reason to these 30 minutes long installs... that is fixed with PS4 too.

Every retail game in PS4 is installed to don't have slow disk loading like Xone... in fact the digital adn disc base games in PS4 and Xbone are the same... there is a automatic install in HDD for retail and it download only a part of the game to play.

The difference again... is the online check and the DRM.

Research a little more about PS4.
