Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

I havent played all and theres still many to come, but currently:

best: Tales of vesperia and Star ocean the last hope
worst: Final fantasy XIII and The last remnant 
overrated: Final fantasy xiii-2 and Lost Odyssey
underrated: Nier

1. Valkyria Chronicles
2. Nier (had a very hard time deciding between this and Lost Odyssey)

Worst:
1. Star Ocean 4
2. Cross Edge (ToS 2 was here until I remembered what I had blacked out of my mind)


Overrated (remember: overrated doesn't equal bad)
1. Xenoblade
2. Ni no Kuni

Underrated:
1. Nier
2. Folklore (next choice would be FF13 or Record of Agarest War)
