Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One has non-replaceable hard drive, external storage is supported

People are MAD AS FUCK at ethomaz for some reason lol

OT: weird that it can't be taken out but whatever

I don't see the need for a larger hard drive, since the reversal of policies. You'll need the disc in anyways. Just delete games you are not currently playing and re-install from disc when you want to play them again. Unless you are going full digital, but you can always tack on an external drive later and swap them out as needed.

I´m just really happy with the notion off being able to play my games from an external HDD in the future, that really makes it easy to take your games to a friends house.

Isn't your external HDD is somewhat bound by your console, so you can't just put it in any XBO so anyone can play. And you still need original BD to play it. If it's not Live d/l.

The Xbone requires ALL physical games to be installed in the HDD. Add to that all patches, DLC, demos and media people usually keep and 500 GB is not a large amount at all. Say the average next-gen game is 25GB in size, that's about 17 games you could have installed at any given time and that's not including DLC and all the other stuff.

Thats only if you go digital. A disc game thats 25GB big won't take 25GB to install

Nope, I did not. Still waiting on your lists, with sources, as mentioned above.

Just google it... it is easy... what I listed is not any secret... MS confirmed all of them.

Example...

"it won't all be there at launch"

That's not my job. It's yours for making a claim, to have to back it up. If you won't do it, I'll report you again, for misinformation and spreading FUD.

lol, you my friend are a trouble maker. This is like the most inoffensive xbox thread weve had in a while, no need for the PR policing.

Not mad at him, per se. Just simply seeking consistent action by moderators. When ethomaz is constantly stealth trolling, posting misinformation, spamming, amonth other things I have found him breaking the rules, yet gets away with it, that's not right. Especially when others somehow get banned for rightfully questioning ethomaz's credibility when he posts inaccurate information.

OT: As others have said, not being able to take it out makes no difference. Hook up an external 1TB drive and you're good to go.

Not to mention I'm sure they will have a 1TB version in a year or so.

lol. That is so stupid, why can't they give you this option like in Xbox 360 or any other device with HDD.

So I need to send console to them, wait for a long time for them to fix it. Compared to 2-3 hours in which I can do it myself, like on 360. :/

How many HDDs do have you gone through?

Most HDDs last for 5 or more years.  It's relatively rare for HDDs to fail before that.

It would likely be bound to your profile and your console, as it is with the Xbox 360.  However, I can take my Xbox 360 HDD stick it in another console, as as long as I sign-in with my profile on Xbox LIVE it's fully accessible by me.  I suspect the Xbox One would be the same.

I think most features of the OS won't be ready at launch... so they are prioritizing the critical features... external HDD storage is not that important IMO.

This is bull. Trying to spread more FUD and misinformation without proof. Reported again, but seeing as how you keep getting away with stuff that others are banned for, I'm not optimistic.

You reported him for that comment? Deary me.

He is always like that with ethomaz :P Well he's always like that with a lot of people but anyway...

Anyway, we seem to be getting an awful lot of news that we heard months ago today... ;/

My original XBox hard drive still works along with the system when I booted it up recently. All of my old PCs still have their hard drives work. I don't see hard drives failing even close to that 5 year mark. Anyways, by that time most people will end up being the XB1 slim to replace their old X1s.

It's just that simple.
