Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Everyone else disappointed by the xbox one reveal?

Where are all of you guys hearing its has to be online?? I thought they confirmed it didn't need to be online. So much confusion with this rumor which really should have been addressed at the reveal but instead we were hearing about COD and EA's games. Silly move by Microsoft!! :/

I don't know, it was fine but it could be better. Maybe we were expecting too much from MS after the PS4 reveal.

Also, perhaps because there was no megaton such as PS4's "8GBDDR5", it felt less impactful.

there was no megaton at all. sonys deal with bungie was a bigger suprise than anything microsoft showed today (game related info)

You dare question the power of the One?

im not bashing the console or the event. im just saying that they didnt show any surprises when it came to video games.

It have... not always online but...

* REQUIRED to be online at least once every 24 hours
* REQUITED to be online to play a game first time

Well apparently there was an official comment today saying it doesn't have to stay online all the time, but you must login to Xbox Live every 24 hours for the console to work, or something like that.

I was meh at first, and now I feel really sour.

I mean all they did was show a boat hitting a bridge (Quandum Break), show a pre-rendered video of two McLarens driving (which tells us nothing about how good the game will look), show us how fast X-Box turns on from sleep mode, and how we can tell it to switch menu's instead of pressing a single button....and that's about it.

After the fact, I now know about a used game fee, and an online connection every 24 hours to play games...so I'm pretty thrown off.

Because MS abandoned the 360 after 2010, and my 360's poor reliability (on #4), I decided to get a PS4/Wii U this upcoming gen, and an XB late. However I can't buy a new 2014 game in 2019, so this "used game charge" will set my XB One purchase back even furthur.

I now understand the extreme fanboyism for Sony. They might not always be the best (especially 2006-2008), but they are ALWAYS consitantly good. You can't go wrong with a Playstation, or really a Nintendo for that matter, but on consoles Nintendo does need more games (GCN, Wii and Wii U are all pretty weak in terms of # of games).

The show was pretty disappointing. I went in leaning PS4, but was anticipating how they'd match the PS4's reveal with their own show. I walked away still leaning PS4. MS wasted a lot of opportunity there.

However, the revelations about mandatory installs, having to pay full-price to reuse discs on separate accounts, and the connection requirements even for single player games? That was fucking crap. I just hope to God Sony doesn't use this as cover to pull the same thing on some duopoly type bullshit.

Today Microsoft lost me as a customer.

You're not alone my friend

I've been a known and vocal Microsoft supporter for years. Ive spent numerous money with Xbox Live and have always backed my MS brethren against the Black plague Sonyites. MS have really done it this time. I will not sit here and take this any longer

This pains me to say this but.. Sonyites, scoot over and make room for the latest member of the Sonyite nation. Being a traitor never felt so good

LOL I'm exactly the same, except I was really getting pushed hard by Sony after FM4 (This was a step back for the FM franchise IMO), and then again after Halo 4 (which now seems like a joke compared to before IMO).

Not fixing the problems of the 360 with the X-Box One, and just adding to them (used game charge), that's just the last straw.

I'm back Sony, and I think I'm back for good, but Nintendo is still #1. You get almost everything with a Nintendo/Sony combo, and I'm really looking forward to playing my Wii U/PS4/3DS in the future (when I own them).

I'll get an X-Box 1 when it's bargin bin cheap though, I can't ignore some of their better offerings like Halo, Gears and Forza, even if they aren't as good as they used to be.

According to a PM i got from a well know PlayStation fan, i cant join through regular means? He also told me that "one does not simply just walk into the PlayStation Nation" and supposedly, they didn't choose to be apart of the PlayStation Nation over night. They were supposedly just born that way

You dont choose PlayStation. PlayStation chooses you.

The natural Sonyite habitat has always been rather interesting

I'm am not worthy but i am willing to do whatever it takes to become an accepted PlayStation Nation member from here on out

Not really, I wasn't expecting much from the start anyway.

Looks like I'll be PC + 3DS next gen.

I'm not disappointed with the reveal, but the reason for that comes down to one word, originating from German (I believe) and adopted into English. That word?

Schadenfreude

I don't know why, but I'm actually finding it all quite entertaining.
