You can't compare Pokemon Let's Go COMG numbers with numbers going back to X and Y - COMG has closed a lot of stores since then, and the COMG ratio seems to be lower than ever for games on Nintendo systems (see Octopath Traveller as an example). I believe Let's Go will outsell Pokemon Sun and Moon.

You might be right about the fact that numbers are not fair to compare BUT it won't sell as much in Japan as Sun+Moon in my eyes. I mean S/M sold 3.8 Mio and when you compare Lets Go performance to Smash Bros, it's fair to assume Smash Bros will sell more and the best selling smash bros game was Brawl with 2.7 Mio or Smash Bros 4 (N3ds+ Wii u combined) with 3.3 Mio. This pokemon won't have very strong legs as an mainline Pokemon game is already announced for 2019

Octopath Traveler had 115 COMG points the week it was released. Its weekly sales were about 110k. How is that an example of anything other than a standard 1:1000 correlation? There have been Switch games that exceeded their points (DKTF) and there have been Switch games that were heavily overestimated on COMG (Minecraft). Octopath is an example of how COMG can still be quite accurate as long as you look at the release week total points.

Honestly, I don't think there has ever been a "standard" 1000:1 ratio. For as long as I've been following this thread (which long predates my registration), that figure has always come off as completely arbitrary. The numbers from COMG are interesting, but represent little more than general popularity of a title in Japan, in broad terms. Trying to make a hard comparison like that is as foolhardy as it would be to try and extrapolate US data based on a hypothetical chain that operated only in Oregon and Washington State.

Indeed, as that string of bullshit stories about Splatoon 2 having 800,000 pre-orders on the basis of COMG points showed, it is actively dangerous to allow this unsupported assumption to be treated as anything approaching fact.

Another Smashing Day at COMG.

Oh poor Trails. Another day with 0 points for KH3 :/ but it's still 190 days away.
Smash continues killing it.

I'm really curious how Smash gonna perform at the weekend - hoping for a smashing weekend ;)

Smash is basically going with the normal Switch 1st party route

MK8D>MK8
Mario Odyssey>Mario 3d World and will surpass 3d Land easily
Zelda BOTW>Skyward Sword
Splatoon 2>Splatoon
Smash Ultimate>Smash 3ds+WiiU

While Pokemon Let's Go will doing badly compared to the recent remake title ORAS by aiming for Go players.
New HD 3rd game version like Pokemon Z or Pokemon Star would definitely sell more than Pokemon Let's GO P/E.
