Publisher says big-budget shooters "came in below our forecast" despite topping charts during release month.

Big-budget shooters Crysis 3 and Dead Space 3 did not meet Electronic Arts' sales expectations, despite topping sales charts, the company revealed today in a post-earnings financial call.

 

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said sales of these titles "came in below our forecast." Specific sales figures for the games were not divulged.

Dead Space 3 sold 605,000 units and was the top-selling title in the United States during its February launch month, according to NPD data.

Crysis 3 was also released in February and was the month's third best-selling game in the US, moving 205,000 copies, according to the research group.

Crytek founder Cevat Yerli previously said that Crysis 3 is "so far, our masterpiece."

I was one of the costumers that bought Dead Space 1 and 2, but have no interest whatsoever to buy the third. Anyone else with the same experience?

I can't speak for Crysis myself, but my brother preordered the first one and said he liked the second as well, but not as much. The third one he has not even talked about thus far!

I loved the first two games. Bought and played Dead Space 3. It was good, but not great. I really didn't like that fact that some optional missions were only available in co-op. Also didn't like the amount to trophies that required co-op play.

Dead Space 3 is just so average, it may have been an OK game if it didn't have the Dead Space name attached to it, as a fan you're just so dissapointed with a result like this! Online trophies are really stupid, in whatever game.

Music in my ears. Loved DS1 but EA fucked it up again. Crysis can diaf.

Despite the disappointment, I still want a new Dead Space, as long as it´s like DS1/2.

I loved the universe they created and the inspirations (Alien/The Thing/Event Horizon), so if they can develop a new DS that´s like the first, with the added flavor of next gen technology, I´m in.

Not really surprised dead space is not a franchise that increased in sales from one to two. So with mediocre reception it was bound to do worse. Crysis was never that big unfortunately.

I am still going to play Dead Space three despite the annoyance that some sections requiring coop if you want to complete all of the game. Which is something I do not want in such a scary series. I want four badly no matter what.

Crysis 1 is way better than 2. The AI in 2 is horrible and the game has a tired location in New York City. Crysis 3 is much better than 1 and 2 in a lot of ways as they say. It is darker with the coolest enviornments, and the AI is by far at it's best of the 3. More people that want unique and challenging shooters should play the Crysis series.

EA killed DS3 . Could of been a good franchise

Crysis 3 was so disappointing to me. They fixed like none of the issues that plagued Crysis 2 multiplayer, everything about it just screamed cash grab. Hell they were even too lazy to change the dashboard image of the game on 360, it's still the Crysis 2 image. It's so frustrating to me because I actually love the core gameplay in Crysis, but they just keep mucking it up.
