Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Is Halo 4 multiplayer a flop?

Before you say anything, this isn't a sales discussion. I know Halo 4 has sold 8m copies. From a sales perspective it is not a flop. But take a look at the latest Xbox Live activity chart. http://majornelson.com/2013/04/06/live-activity-for-week-of-april-1st/

Halo 4 has fallen behind Modern Warfare 3, which is a year older. So what happened? Is the online portion of the game just not that good? Too much of a Call of Duty influence? How would you rate Halo 4's online multiplayer?

i can't stand halo 4. compared to halo 2 or 3 multiplayer it is a fucking flop

Didn't think Minecraft was such a hit. Makes me jealous of X360 users because PS3 don't have this game.

What is strange is that even MW3 is higher.

I'm one of the few who played all Halos and loves Halo 4. It's a great game, campaign and multiplayer.

And yeah, I really think it is because of COD. It somehow steals the show, and many games suffer because of that.

It's hard to draw conclusions about the quality of the online portion of a game just based on unique users that launched the game in a certain week.

I would like to see a ranking based on total hours of game time spent online for each game.

The multiplayer side of the game was a massive failure.

I don't play multiplayer or any online mode. I played every Halo FPS and 4 is beautiful and outstanding. The music, the game mechanics, the graphics and the world settings were beautiful. People just hate change that's it. Oh and the storyline also was intriguing.

No. It's just that 90% of modern gamers prefer easy & stress free multiplayer. Halo is too complicated for them.

Times of multiplayer games that needed more skill are long gone.
