They are an ok band that is way to successful. They don't do anything special for me, and they are kinda just there.

Yeah, luckily the teen girls around where I live don't talk about them all the time. I think any type of hate towards them is just plain stupid because we don't know them personally, so who are we to judge. Except for Bieber who is becoming a little punk as seen on the news stories about him. I actually don't see much about One Direction as much as Bieber on the news. |
It's not just that but they seem to represent a fake consumerist culture with how they act, what they listen to and what they wear. It's really annoying. Plus they are many artists out there who actually try to make good music but don't get any real attention because of idiots like Beiber. Artists like Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Michael Jackson deserved their success and worked their way to the top and were themselves in their times, but Beiber was just picked up and molded by some corporation and he just seems like any other pop artists right now, incredibly generic. It's sad because there are some good mainstream artists out there, Muse, Taylor swift, Maroon 5 are just some but this generation will probably be remembered by idiots like Justin Beiber

Yeah if you (the OP) were in One Direction I would suddenly be a huge fan *starry eyes* ahem, apologies.
