Forums - Gaming Discussion - Apple iPhone sales stutter as Microsoft Windows Phone market share creeps up

globally I think MS is not as good on growth.... also, any decline in iPhone can only really be tied to Android's continued and sustained growth. :P

Its actually not doing too bad globally in major markets.

Most of them are probably low end but still good, you have to start from somewhere. I think it is not that surprising considering the Lumia 620. That phone is a killer in its price range.

Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised it its a lot of WP7.5 devices as well. In China, india and mexico for example.

One thing I have to say is that the app store on WP8 has been exploding with many quality apps last month. Official Pandora, Gravity Guy 2 (exclusive), slew of other Gameloft and quality Xbox live games, official Disqus app (exclusive), bunch of missing banking apps, Viber with HD voice calling features...etc.

When WP 8.5 (or Blue) comes out this fall and reviewers start reviewing the devices, I'm really curious if they will still keep hammering the "it's got no apps" angle.

It took a good while for Android to shake off the "no apps" image. WP just needs enough users to make the main apps worth porting and I think it'll get there. I love the look of the Nokia handsets. Though I guess some of that is Nostalgia as Nokia were the only phone maker you wanted a phone from 10+ years ago.

I'm not tied to an eco system really even though my last 2 phones have been Android (HTC Desire and now Samsung Galaxy Nexus), I'll just go for the best handset when it comes to upgrade time.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Congrats to Android and Windows phones. I love my windows phone.

There are no official number in this article... only US estimations... the official numbers will be out some time in April with the financial earnings.

As I said in the op. Jesus.

Yeap and I think iPhone sales is UP YoY and won market share too... last quarter was a record in units sold... I expect the same this quarter.

iPhone didn't won market share last quarter because the supply issues.

Interesting that Windows OS has 13.1% of the Italian market.

Its really only Nokia who have been pushing the Windows OS. HTC had the 8x but it was never their flagship phone and probably didn't sell too well and the company is struggling to compete. Samsung seems to have forgotten about Windows, and i don't think any other company have used Windows. So, if you assume that the majority of Windows phones are from Nokia, I would think Nokia has to be pleased with its market share growing quickly. Hopefully they contrinue, cause Nokia's smartphones are all excellent quality.

Everyone I know now has the Samsung Galaxy phones..not surprised that Apple is falling while Android is rising. Makes you think why doesn't Samsung make their own OS?

Congratz windows phone, it deserves more!

Sony sees strong growth, people say it's still small. MS whose market share is even smaller goes up, it's praised? No double standard here lol.

Only On VGchartz!
