well its not really about the genre, but more about the creativity behind the games world. the idea's it gives. it feels like this is something really unique. though i will surely check these games out.

if you like story driven games i advice you to play to the moon though, its amazing

Broken Age will hopefully be a creative a game - though unlike others in this thread I have my doubts about what quality we can expect as Double Fine has never made anything outstanding or even very good imo, with the exception of Psychonauts 9 years ago - but it certainly won't be a unique game. It will most probably be a quite old-fashioned point&click/graphic adventure game. Graphic adventure is an old genre, introduced in the early 80s, declared dead by gaming media since 1999, still around in 21st century, today only praised and widely acknowledged for genre entries with the most compelling atmosphere and least interaction (e.g. To the Moon, Heavy Rain, The Walking Dead).

^^^ Well, Tim Schafer made some exceptional P&C adventure games back in the day (which is what this game is), so there's that...

For those who do like the art style of this new title and are not very familiar with 2D/2.5D P&C adventure games, a word of warning...you might end up disappointed. Though classic P&C adventure genre is very much alive and kicking, specially in last few years (though it's very niche), it hasn't really changed much since late 90's - and that's probably the reason why most people who play it still play it - but it might be completely strange to newcomers to the genre...specially to those who expect story over puzzles approach, which is extremely rare in these games.

I know. He worked on Monkey Island 1&2 and learned from Ron Gilbert and other veterans, co-developed Day of the Tentacle with Dave Grossman, designed Full Throttle and Grim Fandango. 4 of these 5 LucasArts games he worked on are in my personal all-time top 5 of point&click adventure games (the fifth one on my list is also from LA but Schafer wasn't involved afaik). At LucasArts Schafer became one of the best adventure game developers ever. I backed Broken Age, I hope they deliver, I hope Schafer still has it (unlike Gilbert), but still: His own company Double Fine only released one great game up to now in my opinion - Psychonauts. I really hope Broken Age will be the second one.

The artstyle is beatiful, but the Daedelic are at least on par with it. I hope the humor and characters are funny
