Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Disturbing thought/rumor: Retro working on Mario Kart U?

That actually would be an honor for Retro if true, which isnt the case im afraid...

Well, considering that, after Wii Sports, Mario Kart Wii is best selling Wii game, I'd say there's lot of reason for doing that - WiiU does not have Sports equivalent, so it really needs Mario Kart U real soon.

I'm new to this whole Nintendo thing so could we get a thread on what each studio is up to? Retro helping out on Mario Kart makes sense but if they were making it completely, what would the other studio be making?

But they have a dozen studios that could easiy turn out an MK game; Retro's speciality is A-grade, visually stunning core titles.

Pretty sure they're definately not making MKU because, they said its a project everyone's always wanted them to do and if I remember correctly, prior to the January direct, I read a list of which EAD's were developing which and one of the EAD's was making MKU.

Well, I am hoping it will be A grade, visually stunning title ;)

And I'd say it is core, core for their buisiness - they really need that one to get the hardware going, so I think it makes sense to throw lot of their talent on it.

If it's true, it's probably just a small team working on MK U (mostly just helping). The core team is definitely working on something huge. If not then I will hate Nintendo forever (probably not but you get the point).

If they're split into multiple teams I wouldn't mind some of them workng on Kart U, but if that's their big mystery project I will probably cry.

Retro has been hiring a lot of people lately (they even bought a new building), so it wouldn't surprise me if they are working on multiple projects. This is their new place btw, from the outside it looks really big.

DAMN, That's ALL Retro's??? That would be too good to be true. A quick Google search shows that this baby is 114,000 sq. feet. EA Canada has the world's largest game development center and it's just over 200,000 sq. feet. EA Canada has around 3,000 employees, so if this is all theirs, and they completely fill it up, they could have around 1,500-1,600 employees in there, and up to 10 different teams working on AAA games at once. Maybe they could pull off a game as big as Watch Dogs. With Iwata planning a big Nintendo restructuring this year, and EAD expanding, things look bright for the future.

RUMOR: Nintendo puts A-list developer to work on their most successful franchise.

Actually this seems plausible.

I don't see what the big deal is. As long as the game is good.
