Edward, like many others have said, is an amazing hero. He seems like such a deep character.
I liked Renton from Eureka 7 a ton because of how realistic he is. There's courage, but it's not without fear. He really develops throughout the anime as well (as a boy his age is expected to).
Finally, Spike from Cowboy Bebop. Amazing main character for an amazing anime.
Naruto, Ichigo, Kenichi, and although he is not a hero per say Yagami Light from Death Note
