Spyro: Year of the Dragon -> Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly
Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped -> Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex
Wip3out -> WipEout Fusion
Battle Arena Toshinden 3 -> Toshinden 4
Final Fantasy IX -> Final Fantasy X
SSX 3 -> SSX On Tour
Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun -> Command & Conquer: Tiberium Wars
Super Smash Bros. Melee -> Super Smash Bros Brawl (COME AT ME, BROS!)

I've felt let down by a lot of sequels over the years, especially when the games that came before them are among my favourites of all time.

I believe the general consensus is that Melee is above Brawl.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Good.  Then no-one will come at me and I won't have to justify why I think Brawl was a drop in quality!

ninja gaiden black (one of the best games of all time)  and then ninja gaiden 2 wtf?

it's time to win this thread: Diablo 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Diablo 3

 Metal Gear Solid > Metal Gear Solid 2

MGS is an absolute classic but MGS 2 was  technically an improvement in every aspect. I can't really call one worse than the other but you gotta give the devil his due. (and by devil i mean Raiden)

FF13-2 was a much better game than FF13.

Objectively, they are games with totally different concepts.

The one is meant to be an impressive film like experience, simply having rpg elements and the other is built around being a traditional rpg.

If you are going strictly after rpg mechanics with the classic hero VS antagonist theme, of course you gonna like XIII-2.

I would say there was a drop from FFVI to FFVII, and again from FFIX to FFX.

Come one now, don't be that guy.

Mario Kart 64 -> Double Dash (specifically battle mode)
Devil May Cry -> Devil May Cry 2
Star Fox 64 -> Star Fox Assault
Guardian Heroes -> Advance Guardian Heroes
Mega Man X5 -> X6 -> X7 :p
Mass Effect 2 -> Mass Effect 3 (still enjoyed it)
Xenosaga Episode 1 -> Episode 2
Super Smash Bros. -> Super Smash Bros. Melee (come at me, BROS!)

No because... that's just not right.

See, this is what I was expecting, then Pavo told me that the general consensus was that Melee is seen as being better than Brawl.

Genuinely, though, I don't feel there was necessarily a huge drop in quality between the two, but I felt disappointed paying full price for Brawl.  My friends and I continue to choose Melee overBrawl whenever we have a couch multi-player session.

SSBB is a game that you felt dissapointed paying full price for? It's pack full of stuff! Possibly one of the best Nintendo games quantity-wise.
