Equally, GTA will have no effect on Lightning returns. Square must be deluding themselves into thinking the game is going to be the huge release which the casuals will pay attention to. They won't!

Any continuation of XIII might aswell be considered niche at this point. Again only amazing reviews will change that.

I think they are scared because they want to appeal to people that have never played a FF or have move away from the series due to FFXIII and FFXIV. If they releases the same month as GTA V, these people will just ignore LR and never get around to buying it due to how many gameplay hours GTA V has.

It has nothing to do with GTAV, they are worried about Rayman Legends. Seriously, who would want to launch a game the same month as this juggernaut? I would'nt be surprised if Rockstar would follow suit.

Well I think they are in a difficult situation either way

Personally, I fear I will be okay since living in the UK means that the PS4 probably won't be out until a bit later....

I do remember getting FF XII here in the UK 1 month before getting the PS3, playing it loads for those 4 weeks and then never touching it again because I had my new toy!

I agree with you. However, what if FF Versus XIII launches on PS3 after both PS4/720 are out?

It will clearly be a mistake, especially if PS4 doesn't have BC, but I think people are so desperate for that game it will still do alright

Let's not forget, if you are targetting PS4, then it is highly unlikely to sell more than 5m units in the first 6 months and games like FF are aiming to sell more than 5m copies

Seems like they have more common sense than Ubisoft...

Yeah, that's why i don't think they will move FF Versus XIII to PS4. They need to sell a lot of copies to get profit out of the 7 years they spent making it. Also, porting and upscaling it to PS4 will only add to the development cost. I think they will release it on PS3/360/WiiU and have a huge advertising campaign for the game so that it gets noticed even after PS4/720 are out.

Good grief. Man, SQEX have made some really bad decisions this gen.

Wrong, they made one called FF XIV. Even FF Brigade was bringing in money.

They haven't spend 7 years making it since it has not been at full production for most of the time.

They may be bringing in money with some games, but they have made a loss for 2 out of their past 3 Fiscal Years. Also, where the hell is there output for home consoles this gen? So far this gen, they have internally developed only 6 games for home consoles: FFXIII, FFXIII-2, LR FFXIII, FF Versus XIII, FFXIV ARR and The Last Remnant. Compare that to the 15 internally developed games last gen and you'll see they've have lost their spark this gen.

Also, FF Versus XIII began development in November 2005. The pre-production phase is an important part of game development that should not be ignored.
