I expect no less than 45m, and closer to 50m. 2m a month would get them to 44m, and they've got to increase production higher than that. I don't see a lack of demand for certain.

John Lucas's final smash would be a flood of Wii's entering the stage and pushing everyone else off the edge to their doom

Yes that would be fantastic for the gaming market I'm sure. I for one relish competition, and I hope it stays competitive to ensure a minimum quality and effort from dev's. Anyone remotely interested in gaming should recognize the importance and impact of competition in the market. We all see how splendid Windows is turning out when owning the market...

Man 60 million means bumbing up production to abt 3-3.5 million, wont happen... it will definately lose money of it does that, cuz it wont sell that mucch!!

in 2007 it sold abt 15-16 mil, so it will be around that number maybe a bit higher. Anyways hope i'm wrong lucas!! 60 mil here we come!

ima be laughing when Wii's are grossly overstocked in September cause of lack of demand.

Yes and no. Windows is obviously good as a standalone application, but the quality is severely lacking.

If they even hit 50 mil (Not even the 60 mil estimate by John)
Third parties will have no choice but go back to Nintendo with their main stream titles....

Generation is determined, but this year will determine how much Nintendo really wants to stay on top

Crazy times we live in.

Predictions For Last Full Week of Sales in 2010)

WII - 80.35 Million

360 - 43.88 Million

PS3 - 41.40 Million

More terrible predictions coming Jan. 2011!!!

I don't expect them to hit sixty. As production actually has to increase to hit that.

I'd LOVE to see Ninty get aggressive with this - like they have never done before. I don't know if its possible, but producing 3m / month (say April + onwards) would change everything in the market.

I'm guessing average 2.2m-2.4m per month (April onwards) + 4m as forecast between Jan-March. That makes 24m-25m for the calender year, or close to 45m by end of '08 (basically my forecast).

Its also close to what the DS had at the end of year#2.

40m should be a given really.

If they can get production up to 3m post April - its 50m-55m.

I'll eat any amount of crow if they get within 3-4m of 60m!

Like most, I can't see Nintendo bumping up production wildly agressively ie 100%+ in April to say, 4M a month, which is what would be needed.  A 50% followed by another 50% increase later would not do it.

However, I think the prediction gets to be called 'pretty good' if sales are >53M at the end of the year.  Why?  Even the more optomistic ones are around 45M, off by 8M+ if 53M+ is reached.  JL would 'only' be off by 7M.  Closest one wins.  :)

Torturing the numbers.  Hear them scream.

I will believe in the John Lucas if the Wii can survive the GTA launch outsellling the PS3 WW. At that point I guess we will have no choice but to accept the Wii as the next-gen platform of choice.

A sad day that would be.
