Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox 720 Will Be More Powerful Than PS4 - Report

ethomaz said:
The insider was asked about whether this three SOC system will cause issues for developers, questioning whether it could prove as difficult as the PS3's Cell chip to develop for.

On paper both systems are capable of 3.2TFlops of data, however the Oban blitter inside the Xbox 720 increases the speed at which data is transferred, meaning the Xbox Next is actually capable of 4.2TFlops.

I stopped here because you can't do that.

If you have a theoretical 3.2 TFLOPS for SP you can increases that... you can reach the most close possible to theoretical 3.2 TFLOPS because it's impossible to use all the 3.2 TFLOPS at the same time... you need to optimize your system to get close to 3.2 TFLOPS.

This article is full of bullshit.

In this rumour the nextbox sounds like the ps3. A very complicated system, yet this "insider" expects multiplats and whatnots to look better on it.

Well what is it?

mean nowgamer and vg247 are making stuff up

Don't care. Didnt Sony destroy all of the other consoles with less powerful consoles twice?

I think the Nextbox will be a little more powerful and Microsoft always have better devkits because the consolidated tools and APIs used by devs in PC too.

The TFLOPS talk in the article is an illusory trip to not say impossible.

On "serious" note:

Xbox 720 Tech Specs

Three SOCs in one console. Two "Venus" models, and one "Mars".
8GB RAM, with 1GB devoted to operating system.

Mars SOC - system SOC

GPU AMD 8850 spec GPU clocked at 600mhz
4 core CPU is clocked @ 1.8GHz. It is an x86 system.
Audio DSP

2x Venus SOC - Application SOC

GPU AMD 8950 or 9950 spec GPU clocked at 800mhz with 10000HD series future tech
4 core CPU is clocked @ 2.4GHz
1.5 Gb of gddr5 ram on each soc (total 3GB)

Really?! Not one, but 2 8950 inside?! Plus 8850?!

On the side note - blitter...well that's the blast from the past (all those who had Amiga 500 will know what I'm talking about).

LMAO at that source!

The source is an xbox fanboy. Just look at his website and see his previous remarks on ps3 and Sony.

i'm not tech guy but a lot of this article smells like BS..

I just wish things would get announced already. i'm ready to buy today damnit.

I don't care which one is more powerful (actually, would prefer a more powerful 720, since I got so used to it on the original Xbox), but two different articles, published on the same day, saying completely different things makes my excitement for the gen jump through the rooof!

It's a plan
