so the vita crashed and burned already? and i thought the console has just been a year on the market

In this short time it already managed to miss its original forecast, its revised forecast and the revision of the revised forecast. It's selling at a rate of less than half of what Sony expected, so calling it a failure isn't really premature anymore, unless there are/will be signs of a huge turnaround in 2013.

in no means is the vita a ressounding success. but it didnt "crash and burn" like the article said. i can easily go, walk in a store and buy a vita. if it crashed and burned i couldnt do that. also if the article is stating the vita crashed and burn why didnt he put the gamecube? if we are going by the vita numbers now its selling about 4 million a year. multiply that 5 which is the console hardware lifespam and you got about 20 million units, which is pretty close to the gamecubes numbers

It barely (if even) managed to meet Sony's own lowered expectations. What else would you call it right now?

I love the jokes in that article btw^^

Regardless people shouldnt judge a system if its a failure until the end of its life cycle - whether its Sony halting production/cancelling or when its successor (if ever) come out.

The fact he called it PSP Vita...not sure if it was serious jab or if the article creator was just clueless.

I'll quote a previous post of me again, maybe you can give an answer:

What is PSP Vita?

It's an example of the brand confusion that Sony are obviously suffering from. They should have called it something else, like PSP2, then people would have been able to identify it as a new product much more easily.

Just a question - were people also this confused with the GBC, the SNES, the GBA and the Xbox360? I think PSVita and PSP sound completely different, unlike (3)DS and Wii(U).

Why would someone confuse the PSVita for a new model of the PSP?

the TurboGrafx-16 was a very good system, it sucks that people were too focused on the Super Nintendo and the Sega Mega Drive that the Turbo Grafx-16 had some awesome games.

Glad that Nintendo has TG16 games on Wii VC.  Mainly played Lords of Thunder but I own a few more TG16 VC games.

They were obviously trying to get more hits and they basically admitted to it in the Vita section of the article.

The Vita is tracking below the GC in every major region.

i just gave that as an example, no need to get off topic

You people that are getting on my case for caling it PSP Vita have serious issues.

I've owned a "PSVita" for a week before returning it to Best buy earlier this year and fully know what it is.

Besides, who gives an F what it's called? If a product is compellingin terms of what it offers and price, Sony can call it PSShita and it'll sell like hotcakes.

4 million Vitas sold in 1 year.

10 year plan = 40 million lifetime.

Success?

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

??????

What are you talking about? When did I say anything about you? I am talking about the article maker.

Edit: Oh....you are the one who said it...oops LOL uhh...moving on....

Yeah I made the mistake.

I posted this using a Surface on the go in Metro browser and tablet mode so I had enough on my hands in trying to copy links and content over from Tom's... I just fired a blank on what the official name was for PSP V2.

AAA software and bundles/ price cuts will go a long way towards turning the Vita into a viable successor to PSP.  PSP wasn't exactly a sales monster outside of Japan, it's not like it'll be that difficult to improve the sales situation.  Sony should lower the price of Vita games to $34 or $30 instead of $40 or $50.  That would help a lot.

Makes sense. I see the PSP is still outselling it worldwide.

I cant believe they mentioned the OUYA, has that thing even come out yet? lol

Edit: Just realized, how do they have the Vita but not the PSP-Go...yep just another article to get hits and I had to be dumb enough to click on the link ~-~

Aye. Vita's got plenty of life in it, if only from Sony's first party efforts. The Go, meanwhile, was ill-conceived from... the get-go

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
