Cmon kowen you couldn't last longer than the first page before having a go at Sony?

OT: Congratulations Microsoft, that's a lot of sales! I wonder how it specifically compares to Vista and 7.

There was thread about this:

Good, windows 8 works like a charm. If only the haters would test it out before being negative...

thats not the problem (atleast for me)

the problem is that it's released so quickly after 7, that it's additional functions are pretty uninteresting for the normal desktop pc user and that again they are trying to force it down gamers throats by refusing 7 new Dx updates

I just bought a Sony Vaio with Windows 8 :D

People can say they don't like Win 8, but you can't say it isn't making a lot of money.

It's half the price per license, and it didn't increase PC sales. So yes you can say that.

100m app downloads includes free apps, the number is worthless without the breakdown into paid apps or revenue figures.

Yes. This is all bad news.

Discounts + Christmas shopping + mobile now being counted as windows 8 ( even though msft probably gets half of its usual licensing fee bc the product is cheaper) = good sales

but, none of these are able to be a long term fix, keep that in mind.

yeah, you keep sayin...

like you keep saying that chrome os will be a success.  hows that working out for you?

Chrome? Not that well at all.

Android however, is taking marketshare from Microsoft in the context of the evolution of phone sales as 10 years ago, Windows was the dominant phone OS, and now its android.  Tablets are frequently a substitute for desktops and more and more are android now.

So, a significant portion of the OS market for MS has been lost, and that's probably why MS's Office365 has been a bust as well.  So all in all, the marketshare for office software as well as OS isn't where it was 10 years ago, thanks to Google.  Meanwhile, google is about 8% bigger than msft in terms of market cap.  Msft has lost its size advantage, which has always been a big help for them.

Fix the title please.

Yay!!!

win 8 is a joke

lol Microsoft and it's PR machine!!

This is NOT good news. Windows 8 is still not selling as well Vista was selling at the time and if you remember at the time, Vista wasn't selling that well at all. Compare this windows 7, which sold better than Vista, and you'll see what i mean.

These are official MS numbers and they are clearly ahead of Vista numbers. You will see how MS is doing in 14 days.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Got my new laptop with windows 8 and I like it. I still don't see the point of the desktop version but it looks nice anyways! I had to delete 90% of the tiles though but I see where Microsoft are going with it.
