A doom thread is the intellectual equivalent of a "everything's rosy" thread.

The video-game industry and all of its companies is a living thing, dynamic, ever-changing.

Lots of companies die.

It's always legitimate to voice concern over seemingly bad information or facts.  It also keeps gaming companies on their toes to hear the critics, and probably helps them improve now and then.

Doom is good.

^Even if it is good to voice concern, I'd say people are jumping the gun in the "doom" threads (like they do in the "rosy" threads).

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

there are no facts to prove Wiiu or 3ds are doomed so there's is no need for concern. WiiU is performing better then PS3 in thier first yr. in just 2 months. not sure about 360.

agreed.

Heres the problem with doom threads:

" Im making a doom thread to discuss my idea on why *insert console* is doomed thats no different from any of the millions of doom threads on the same topic from same people everyday.. 3x a day"

This also comes with:

1." Im going to purposely cherry pick or ignore history altogether to further my point."

2. " This console is doomed though its performing better than my choice console.

3. Just the general " This console is doomed because I want it to be"

VGChartz is the equivalent to the Shooter Market. Everybody gotta do it... shamelessly

I was just defending doom in general.

But, 3DS sales are down huge YoY in Nintendo's two key markets: the U.S. and Europe.  Yes, it's true.

Even though it was available for purchase for 12 months in 2012 vs 9 months in 2011 in the U.S. & Europe, the 3DS sold 600,000 fewer units in the U.S., and 3,000 fewer units in Europe.

Globally the weekly average sales for 3DS YoY are down from 300k + in 2011, to around 260k for calendar year 2012.

To compare, the DS in its second year for sale, increased dramatically in all regions - it trended up big-time.  The one and only reason 3DS is still technically outpacing DS over the first 100 weeks or so of their respective launches, is that its immediate launch sale figures stood on the shoulders of the DS's success and the hype of 3D...

But, the 3DS decline in the U.S. and in Europe from 2011 to 2012 is dramatic.  Nintendo projected 17.5 million 3DS sales from April 1 - March 31st, they currently stand below 11 million (remember - starting from April 1 2012).  They will drastically miss their goal.  This is because they factored in growth for the U.S. and Europe, and they are now shocked to see that the 3DS is already in major decline in those regions.

lol and here's the problem. zarx, you are truly observant and one of a kind.

millions of the threads and we only need one. same topic, and 99.9% of the time the same agenda in that being the problem.

it's not the making of the threads people. it's the agenda the thread presents which results in meaning less conversation, having nothing constructive to add.

the right games have yet to be released for the 3ds.

even so, you don't have to use the word doom, because what you're talking about is a decline in sales, and that should be the thread topic, and it gives the thread the wrong vibe when you use the term doom define declining sales.
