I am not sure if you are being serious. SONY has a GREAT first party line-up and just because they only have 1 game in GRAN TURISMO that sells close to Halo or Mario does not mean that they can't compete. Just saying that they can't compete ESPECIALLY when talking about games sounds a little biased if you ask me but that is just my opinion. NIN has a bigger problem with 3rd party support than SONY or MICROSOFT if you ask me.

I will just say some of your reason seem flawed but it is your prediction so that is cool I guess. Me personally I think the battle for 1st will be between SONY and MICROSOFT due to them having better games and both seem to have abetter game plan than what the Wii U has going right now. Yes NIN has Mario, Zelda, METRIOD etc...but they are SEVERELY lacking in 3rd party support IMO that is. Or heck it may even be like it is right now with EVERY system being VERY close. Europe is owned by Playstation and Japan is not THAT far behind it with NIN edging them out more so due to handhelds. NA and UK belongs to MICROSOFT and NA will actually be pretty close between SONY and NIN IMO again. But time will tell once we learn more about the PS4 and the next XBOX so better predictions can be made at that time.

I said third party exclusives. PS2 and PS1 did so well because dev costs were low and a company could release a bad game (sales-wise) every now and then and be okay. Nowadays, you have to sell many millions to even break even, and the easiest way to do that is to release on as many platforms as possible.

Whether or not you like Sony's first party output has nothing to do with how they compete. Sales drive hardware, not ratings. Most Sony first parties barely match the sales of even low-end Nintendo games. That's not an opinion it is a fact.

It's difficult to make predictions when only one next-gen console has been released thus far, and one hasn't even been announced yet.

It seems to me that by nearly every measure, the PS4 announcement was received far more positively by the public than the PS3 was at E3 2005.  People are stoked about that thing.  I know people that haven't had a Playstation since PSone and have been with the Xbox brand since the early 2000's and they are seriously taking a look at PS4 and considering it as their next-gen system.  I wouldn't underestimate that thing.

The next Xbox may have a lot of cross-over appeal due to it's heavy focus on integrated Kinect and multimedia functions, but it will need the cross-over appeal because it looks like PS4 is going to be very stiff competition for them, and Sony may well draw some hardcore 360 owners over to their tent in the next-gen.

My early, early prediction is that Wii U is in third place, but not by much, and that PS4 wins next-gen.  New Xbox probably lands somewhere in the middle.  Wii U will double GameCube's install base, maybe hit 50 million total, New Xbox may hit 60 million, and PS4 may hit 70-80 million.

Of course it is a fact a well known one at that. But that goes for both Sony AND Microsoft...that is just NIN period they have established franchies that all sell no matter how good or bad they may be. And while that is true those few won't push them that far ahead of the competion not next Gen anyway(just an opinion of course). And a lot of Sony First parties sell well 2-3 million(LBP, INFAMOUS etc)are good sellers and make money. Then a few others go from 4-6 million(God of War, Uncharted etc) again making them money and then there is Gran Turismo which goes from 6-10/11 . So they have a NICE number of franchies that sell well so they are fine which is why I didn't get your point I guess.

Then they have BETTER 3rd party support than what NIN has and basically equal third party support to MICROSOFT so I guess I just missed or mis understood what you were trying to say. And like all companies I am sure they will get some third party exclusive support and their first party will carry them fine. Unless I am missing something  then there is no REAL advantage that NIN or MICROSOFT has over them just like there is no REAL advantage SONY has over either of them.So I am not sure why you think SONY can't compete I guess but..................Me personally I think the next Gen will be closer than many think.

I think its way too early to proclaim anything.

I made my first big prediction on my first post here in December 2006. It basically said Wii would dominate and it did. In fact, I still undersold what it would do in the first year.

I did that because all three had launched by then and you could easily see the market demand for each. By mid-2007 I was saying it would end up being Wii/PS3/360 in ranking, granted its taking PS3 a lot longer than I envisioned, but it will still happen.

I wouldn't bet on any out come of this coming gen until at least January 2014 when all three are out. Especially not until you see prices and launch line-ups.

Hell at this point, I've see nothing from Nintendo to even fix the current slump in sales. Sure there are many nice games coming... but wheres the marketing!!??

Some Nintendo fans are so oblivious to reality when the stats are in front of their faces. Wii U is NOT selling well and is NOT a PS3.

This generation will be, undoubtedly, PS4 vs. Durango. And with Durango's emphasis on multimedia vs games it's anyone's guess as to which one will appeal to the masses.

i expect this to happen again, if only there was a site to bet money on these things.

What basis do you have for any of this? I think it's going to be a battle between nexbox and ps4 because they are making consoles that sell. You can't compare handheld to console because they are very different markets. Sony learned that the hard way with the vita. A portable system seller isn't necessarily a console seller. Sony still has a lot of 3rd party support. As a matter of fact, the PS4 has more support than the wiiu and it's not even out yet. All nintendo has is mario and mario spin offs. It's about time they learned their lesson and start making good things again. The wiiU is barely stronger than a 360 or PS3 anyways. Also, how is being the second highest seller in the US almost every week "losing presence?" They still dominate on an overall console sales every week. I'm sorry, but you have a baseless argument, and if nintendo insists on overcharging for their console, it will be left in the dust upon release of the PS4 and nexbox. The sales of the wiiU are dreadful, and I am glad that they are. Unless they reduce the price to $300, you are an idiot for buying one.
