Forums - Sales Discussion - Will we see Nintendo domination again?

Will we see Nintendo return to former home console glory?

Yes, WiiU should dominate for a long time 54 25.84%

Yes, WiiU should at least... 49 23.44%

No, I don't see WiiU dominating many weeks 40 19.14%

No, WiiU will be dominated 56 26.79%

Other 9 4.31%

Total:208

It only depends on Nintendo, after all Nintendo is the only company in the market that its hardware sales heavily relies on first party titles.

It will happen when Nintendo stop making the games they want to make (Pikmin, Nintendo Land, Wii Music wtf) and start making games that have sold well in the past but really try and make them more awesome (NSMB + some actual effort/production value, that really epic Zelda people want minus annoying helpers/cutscenes/boats/trains, Wii Sports sequel that sets a new standard for motion fidelity and use).

Woah Woah, Woooooaaaaahhhh!!!! Pikmin is a great game, actually a very addicting game. Using lots of strategy and everything is a time factor (at least the 1st one and soon to be 3rd)! Pikmin is very underrated, Its a very good game that alot of people want! Its also made by the person who makes zelda and mario, that there should say enough!

I think Nintendo will see some domination again when Nextbox/PS4 arrive, but it won't be like the Wii, not unless they have a MAJOR ace up their sleeves^^

While I don't think that any one company/console is going to dominate next-gen, I do believe that Nintendo will be one of its strongest players. I think that people are underestimating the future of WiiU as an attractive device.

Now in Japan, yes, total Nintendomination. The writing is already on the wall IMO.

I believe so yes. Nintendo has always been in a category of its own. I think the most interesting battle will be the PS4 vs Xbox 720.

Furthermore, I believe it is apparent in which market each console will succeed:

North America: Xbox 1st, Nintendo 2nd

Europe: Xbox vs Sony, Nintendo 3rd

Japan:  Nintendo 1st by a long shot, Sony 2nd

I see exactly that! Its kinda hard to tell though about America. I agree with Xbox being first but seems like it'll be fan war with Nintendo and Sony next gen IMO! Nintendo has the software but sometimes they need to plan better releases for them. I dont see why Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3 should be pushed back after FEB! At least one of them could have been a holiday release with NSMBU!

I don't think we'll see a casual uprising in successive generations. If we exclude a significant portion of that market as being content with their Wii and unlikely to upgrade, then I see the remainder of the home console market as being spread out among the next gen offerings. On a week-to-week basis, I don't think the difference is going to be that great. Even lifetime sales will probably be close; even though the Wii U started first, it will likely be the first to be phased out.

That being said, I feel like Microsoft is the only one with a shot at "domination". They have the resources and the financial ability to advance an innovative product at a loss with the idea that it will generate revenue in other ways. They can make a loss-leading investment without blinking. Of course, they would have to find an innovative product that resonates with the general public first and we have no idea if that's going to happen. Realistically speaking, I have a feeling that they'll release something that, like Kinect, will appeal to a North American audience far more than it does to a European or Japanese market, and thus won't actually dominate on a global scale.

But, you never know. Predicting console generations has been nearly impossible.

If only SSB4 had a release in 2013! Then Wii U would be so far ahead! Xbox will have halo5 and we all kno Master Chief is the Mario of Microsoft! Sony has lots of IP's also but not a Mario! (1st party)

a Nintendo "ace" I'm personally still waiting for is a full blown home console Pokémon MMORPG that has a world as lush and detailed as in the movies

not sure it will ever come though

I don't think he's saying these games lack quality, just that they aren't system sellers like Wii Sports+Wii Fit etc.

Not mad or anything, but he said wtf meaning what the **** type of games are these lol! Pikmin might not be a system seller like other titles but if released day 1 it would be close to a mil in sales now (around 750k-800k) imo
