I for one hope Nintendo do something new this year, like a new Mario franchise (like they did with SMG) or something entirely new and fresh. I'm getting sick of all these Mario Karts and 2D Marios even if I don't play them

That's why you get sick :) You should play them to feel better.

No kidding, we had a real Mario inflation these last 2 years.

Still I'm anticipating anyway a new home console Mario Kart ( I hope they don't screw up) but I don't think we will see it this year.

You can be sure they're going to release some big guns in November/December this year in an attempt to scupper the launches of the PS4 and 720. I'm expecting any two of the following:

1) Mario Kart U
2) 3D Mario
3) Retro's new game
4) Monolith Soft's new game

We'll probably see another Bayonetta 2-esque Megaton too.

We'll also see teasers of the new Zelda and two of the four titles I've listed above that aren't due for release in November/December I think.

For some reason I don't see a Mario Kart U happening this year. They'll want to save that for next year when Sony and MicroS are both on the market.

Yup, that's why I said two out of the four will be released in November/December. The other two will be teased for the following year.

I guess Smash Bros U showed this year is pretty much a given, add it to the tease/release list :) also I agree with NinitendoPie, I think KartU will come later.

Either that or a new SMG. Depends on how creative/supportive Nintendo is feeling about the Wii U.

Mario Kart and 2D Mario are Nintendo's CoD. They won't stop making those games.

This is my serious question. I want to think that Smash U can be shown this year but I don't know if that's an unrealistic expectation. They didn't start development that long ago... Not to mention.. They are developing for two platforms now. So wouldn't it take longer?

I also agree that 2013 E3 is a big time for Nintendo and they really really need to make sure that their show is amaaaazing since Microsoft will probably unveil their new console. (And possibly Sony too, right?)

Just me give Zelda already.

Agreed. I think Mario Kart is a late 2014 release.

But I would not be surprised if Q3/Q4 2013 included Super Mario Universe, Wii Sports 3, Monolith Soft's IP, and the game Retro has been working on.

Nope, not at all. The engine was finished August 2012 (http://wiiudaily.com/2012/08/super-smash-bros-wii-u-characters-2/), it should be possible to to finish enough of the game for a release trailer on the E3.

Just the thought of 3D Mario on Wii U makes me climax.

If you are right then this year and next year should be great for Wii U around Holiday time. But I doubt Nintendo would have so many games available at one time.

Just bring Metroid Prime 4
