Forums - Sony - Sony said to be in 'active negotiations' to launch an internet TV service

Sony of 10 years ago and people would pay attention to this.

Sony of today? Not so much. Apple, Microsoft, and Samsung reportedly are doing similar things, who's going to bet on Sony in that race?

Around the Network

Sky annd premium subscription TV in general is crap anyway. You pay a premium every month for ads every 10 minutes AND you can't even choose what and when to watch. No sky plus doesn't count.

Speaking for UK Tv services, If ms or Sony think they can get decent subs for TV services in the UK they are dreaming, Sky and Virgin have it cornered. Which is why MS were smart and partnered up with Sky.

Yeah but they are obviously aiming at the US. Because UK as we know it is irrelevant.

I trust no one, not even myself.

From what I can understand this rumour is an internet tv service, akin to neflix or lovefilm or something - rather then a media service like Sky / Virgin. So could stand on it's own ground with PS3 / Ps4 / Vita integration and just general internet support, but still doesn't really make a lot of sense. I really don't see this as being in competition with SKy or virgin anwyay but just rather a way for them to try sell all their films and other content over the internet. Goes well with the Galkai accquisition and whatnot too.

If they stick the thing in every Ps4 and Vita though I don't see how it can't have some success, even if Apple, Samsung or whoever cripple them for marketshare. Sony should have the edge of those guys for content?
