Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii U Surpasses 2 Million Sales

They may ship 5.5million consoles to reach their projection, but based on current sale through rate, the next Q number might be ugly.

Why are you quoting an outside source when the source quotes this site? LOL!

Tease.

I bought it, but I have never felt this underwhelmed by a Nintendo system. The system itself is fine, I'm sure there will be some great ways to use the gamepad and all that jazz. It's just, I beat Zombi U and NSMBU, what now?

Nintendo Land is the best game ever

Pachter had predicted 3 millions by the end of the year.

He fails. As usual.

Ship  5.5 milliion, not sell 5.5 million.

There can be a very significant difference in those 2 figures.

Also wasn't it supposed to be 5.5 million by the end of March?  Or am I mistaken?

Correct.   March 31st to be specific.  But the next day is April 1st so I don't think Tiko's dating was too errant.

hahaha! made me lol =)

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Wii sold around 5.8 units in first six months. WiiU selling at 81% of Wii. WiiU projected sales: 4.7million. WiiU is definitely on pace to ship 5.5million.

I think a large part of the WiiU sales being a little less than Wii is less stock built up in the months leading to launch. There were some early manufacturing headaches. It's possible that WiiU shipments could match Wii from here on out until March, which would mean sales above 5 million for the year. Now, the question of course is will there be demand for those units in the downtime after Christmas like there was for Wii. I think so, at least until the first 5 million or so are sold, but you never know for sure.

Nintendo will miss their prediction of 5Mil, I'm sure of it. It's just a little too high.

I was hoping for 2.5Mil by the end of the year for the Wii U though...

5.5M if i remember correctly and also remember they will be pointing at shipments not sell though so you can add a good 1 million in retail channel stock to the sell though numbers for nintendo's end of the quarter numbers.

Nintendo has to sell around 2 Million in the next 3 months to come close to their shipment total. There are 13 weeks until then, which means they need to average about 154,000 units per week to make that total; which is between how the Wii and XBox 360 sold last year.
